"New GM" in Photos From GM Design

"New GM" in Photos From GM Design
GM releases what appears to be design renderings of vehicles important to the "New GM".

It isn't every day that a company as large as General Motors essentially gets a second chance at life. While the last few decades at GM have been plauged with an uncompetitive cost structure, uncompetitive efficiency, uncompetitive products and even worse...uncompetitive products; the passion within GM from a product stand-point appears to be alive more than ever. GM is doing something with their "second chance" that really hasn't been done at an automaker; designers are getting say in just about everything. After all, the all automakers today make quality products and have the same feature content. The last remaining differentiators are creativity, innovation and design. It appears, based on the below and what people who have seen the future are saying, that GM is poised to lead that arena.

Most of the photos below are new (at least to myself), but some we have seen before. The interesting thing to note with nearly all of the "new" photos is that they appear to be studio renditions of the vehicles. You'll note on some of them (Traverse for example), they look slightly different than the real deal. GM released (or re-released) all of these photos today.

I think the important thing to note about this thread and the photos below is this: the discussion is finally back to product. Enjoy!

I was thinking the same thing when going through GM's press release today, the photography really looks stepped up a notch. I like seeing that the details are being addressed. GM's photography has been a joke for years.

That CTS coupe is pure sex. I just hope the ATS coupe is close to that good.

Thats the best looking pic of the Cruze yet!

    All the interiors look great.

Still not liking the Terrain though, kinda like the Jeep Compass for GMG...yuck.

Re: "New GM" in Photos From GM Design

What I like, is that no matter what car the customer is sitting in (you can blindfold them leading up to the vehicle and then take their blindfold off once inside), is that you can tell you're in a GM instantly.

For years, there has been no continuity in GM's interior design themes. It has always been a hodge-podge of different design elements and themes. It was almost like the last 5 years was GM's "lets see if this works" / practice session in terms of interior design. From the plastic-y (Optra), to the mundane (Cobalt), to the absurd (Astra), GM didnt seem to know what their language was.

All that I just said about the interiors can also be applied to the exteriors as well!

Finally, you can now look at any GM, from any angle, in any light, or distance, and exclaim, 'Now THAT! That right there is a General Motors product!....and I want one!'

Link added to first post (bottom). Most are in that gallery, but not all. You can do a search for the model name and find the others as they are scattered about.

I love the SRX and Terrain, everything else, not so interesting but nice (I actually hate the Buick Enclave, hideous amorphous design).

This photo was taken at the Village or Rochester, which is right across the street from me. GM does many photo shoots there for some reason, and Ford does allot of Lincoln B-Roll at Meadwbrook Hall not to far from here .

Seriously with the Traverse. The grille was this:

    I think that's a pre-production design.
