Ventilators are $25,000 to $50,000 per and complex. And operators have to be trained. Here's a good summary:'

In Europe, the Ferrari and McLaren F1 teams are using their downtime to engineer new ventilators, the first ones due to get medical approval for use in the UK's NHS in the coming week.

Absolutely correct these specialist Critical Care nurses/operators do years of hard work training to get qualified you can't expect a get up to speed overnight, probably mentoring the new nurses might help a bit that would still take ages for them to get up to speed.

I really feel for the brave nurses and doctors who are fighting what is worse than a war they are putting thier life's on the line a lot are new nurses some 35,000 Italian medical students that have not finished thier training skip it to help with the shortage of sick staff, some nurses in the front line starting to questioning saying they never went into health care to be used as Coronavirus cannon fodder, hope these hero's everyone of them get some reward recognition for the brave work they are doing 8.3% of all Coronavirus cases in Italy medical staff that were caring for patients with the virus.

I can make some for $50 and have monkeys operate them. Saving countless lives and Billions (Billions with a "B") in the process.
