That'll be the best .99 I'll ever spend and this is coming from a guy who paid 6.99 to have Mr. T's voice on his TomTom back in the day. "Hey fool, dont give me no Jibba Jabba, Turn Left"

    This is it.

Honestly, I am work or I am on the baseball diamond / rink or I am at home 90% of the time. Someone would die of boredom tracking me.

personally I have "little use" for any of the internet enabled "assistants" BUT can see the VALUE in them if you have / use them
and HAVING your assistent in the car with you is a bonus I assume it can connect with your alexa calendar/reminders ETC so you could interact while in traffic and the internet connected voice command systems are better / smarter" than a "legacy" built in one would be and I find most voice command systems nearly useless

Probably. Fleet customers, including government, can specify the option code 'UE0 - OnStar, delete' for just about any GM vehicle they order. That option also deletes SiriusXM satellite radio and 4G LTE & WiFi hotspot.

I am certain beyond a reasonable doubt that all those customers are fully bugged. Part of an Orwellian State is monitoring and controlling everyone. Everyone.

Oh hell no. If they must do this, they have to make it a stand alone option. Not everybody wants computers that spy on them.

I am certain you very well know how a typical day in your life can be turned into making you look like Jeffrey Epstein combined with Robert Alan Durst in one person by clever government attorneys seeking career notoriety.

Probably GM shouldn’t be forcing its customers to have spyware in their cars. I don’t have to be a doomsday prepper in order to not want a technology designed to eaves drop on me in a car I would buy.

This should ONLY be as an option and only as a stand alone option.

Regular Alexa is ok because right now you get to choose to not have Amazon spying on you. When they did the Teen Driver thing GM assured everyone that if they didn’t want it that was ok because it would be an option. The problem, of course, is that they bundled it with popular options so if you wanted those options you had to have Teen Driver on your car.

That’s what is likely to happen here as well. People who would rather their car not spy on them will unwittingly buy a car with Alexa in their car sending all their data to Amazon.

    Sorry, but that’s umnaccpetable.

Well, look, if you are ok that everything you say or do in your car will be recorded and sent to Amazon or sometimes sent to neighbors or co-workers, then you should have that right.

But the problem we know GM didn’t Make this big deal with Amazon so that those who would not be ok with that can easily buy a car from GM where they get all the option packages they want without having a device designed to spy on you bundled with those option packages, or worse yet, no way to option out of it.

I’d you don’t value your privacy, that’s fine. But because your cool with not having privacy shouldn’t have any effect on those who do value their privacy.

See my first post on page one of this thread. I will add that I'm sad to say that for me it is one more reason to stay away from a GM product in the future.

Re: General Motors to Bring Amazon Alexa to Millions of Vehicles

With the 2020 election all about whether we'll be living in an Orwellian America or not, I'm just as concerned as the next person about it. But, I also feel that I could outwit any Alexa in my car based on my experience with one in our home. "Alexa. List the thousands of parts in my car while you contemplate the meaning of life." Either that or I'd bore someone to death listening in while I live my life. Bottom line: This deal between GM and Amazon doesn't worry me. Not yet, anyway.
