Drive A Stick? Lock Your Doors? VW Says Why Bother!

    .
People often tell me that my car's manual transmission is a great theft deterrent...a great new advertisement for the all-new VW GLI confirms that thought. Take a look here:

    Brilliant.

    Well done VW.

Re: Drive A Stick? Lock Your Doors? VW Says Why Bother!

There is nothing fun about driving a VW or any other car being manual in a big city commute around USA or Canada. Stop and go doesn't mix with manual transmission. If I have it for the weekend, there are other options. Also, Jetta aint known for a nice looking car either.
And posting this ignorant BS aimed at the USA/Canada market is low.
Did you guys just get some kickbacks to post the video for VW?

I thought it was cool, speaks to me a heck of a lot more than an electric, autonomous future. If it came between being forced between an electric, self-driving car, and a stick shift VW (although not too exciting of a car otherwise), I'd switch to the VW side. I've had fun with low hp cars with sticks, and this should be quicker than those were.

It's not the manual transmission that's the problem here.

Jeeze who whized in your Wheaties???? Take a chill pill dude.

That's your opinion, and it's a pretty bad one at that.

I've been driving nothing but manual transmissions since 1999 and I'll never own an automatic. The small hassle it might be (if you call it a hassle - rowing gears in traffic is simply part of driving for me) is a very small price to pay for the joy of rowing your own gears on the open road.

I'd rather drive a manual Yugo than an automatic Ferrari with flappy paddles, and that is a fact.

Or don't bother locking any VW because no one will want it anyway.

Unfortunately this isn't true.. but I always like everyone to experience at least 60 months of car payments draining their bank accounts on a car that typically causes them nothing but frustration and now.. Uber rides to work, while waiting for the VW service adviser to call them and tell them that "your car will be ready tomorrow..because well.. we found something else wrong..."

On the other hand....... twice now this Spring, we have had a Valet Service 'unable' to park a stick; and a third time where I removed him from the car after a demonstrated lack of ability. In less than a two week period just past.

And that's with all the prefiltering we do before we go out - or even allow a Valet in the first place.
