Cadillac Sales Plunge as Lincoln Gains

Like the author of this article, I too wonder how much longer Johan de Nysschen has. His tenure at Cadillac has been a total and complete disaster thus far.

    2013 Cadillac ATS - Black

Re: Cadillac Sales Plunge as Lincoln Gains

Garbage article with no research done, simply read sales data and regurgitated it. Left out the fact that the XT5/SRX are in transition, and the rest of the lineup, is old news. Now we get to read 5 pages of "where are the CUV's", "Cadillac is so stupid" or "they used cheap plastic in one spot", ignoring the fact we know the CUV's are on the way or that we know JDN's fingerprints aren't on any of these vehicles. Cadillac is in a "have to wait and see" mode as we simply have to wait for the new product to come out, until then nothing is going to change, the ATS isn't going to rocket to selling 5,000 units a month.

I don't know why the doom and gloom. The new CT5 will probably outsell the SRX soon and will keep Cadillac sales flat for the rest of the year. Until 3 new CUV are added to the lineup, we all know sales won't increase.

The current cars were all approved before the arrival of JDN. It's the next ATS/CTS and CT1/3/7 that will be decisive for his career.

Look, we all have seen time and time again for many here @ GMI..... and in the Spin Community @ large....... Ford, Ford Brand, and especially Lincoln Brand cannot go forward on their own merits, discussions and so forth.

And with that, the real Apple of their eye is always presented ie GM, Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and of course....... Cadillac.

So take it all as the unintended complement it really is......... and just overlook that GM / Cadillac go after the other Players ....... and warm yourself with the thought that someday, when they grow up and develop some real strength of their own........ and also with that in their most favorite products..... so too, will these 'other people' and so forth.

Really can't blame them for ducking FCA, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Subaru, Jaguar, (ouch ) , Land Rover and Volvo ( hey, knock it off - that hurt ), Hyundai / Kia, Audi, BMW, MB, AND well, you get the idea.

Remember too, when they go quiet... say about something like China or Europe or whatever..... that's a 'tell'.

Same with the incessant overfocus' on certain topics never mind the talking points.

Just like most anti-Cadillac and pro-Lincoln threads.

    Bingo.

You forgot, Cadillac has to be mocked for not having crossovers already in transit, then have its leadership excoriated for not having approved crossovers two, three, four years before they were on the job if not there 10+ years earlier to set up GM's platform strategy to make that possible in the first place.

    I'll translate:

Ford and particularly Lincoln fans have nothing to get excited about on their own besides finding reasons to bash GM, because you don't have the balls or talent to actually go toe-to-toe with and compare to the rest of the market like GM tries to.

Comparisons to the rest of the market are avoided because you come up short or have nothing to be proud of, just like when you bring up ROW figures or truisms about why things are the way they are.

Basically, you by and large bring nothing productive to the conversation because that's not your goal; it's to bash and feel better about yourself.

    Feel free to correct me.

#1 JDN has NOT had enough time to DO ANYTHING product wise RE a "master plan" and is STILL working on previous plans

the ATS/CTS were OUT before HE was in control the CT6 / XT5 would be well through "gestation"

#2 the article EVEN states ONLY the Lincoln MKX went up all else down so LITTLE "Lincoln win" EX when Escalade ATP is considered
