    August 2016 Sales – GM -5.2%

Chevrolet Retail Share Up in August and 7 Out of 8 Months This Year

Despite very tight dealer inventories, General Motors (NYSE: GM) sold 212,915 vehicles to individual or “retail” customers in August, down about 5 percent from last year, but in line with the industry’s retail performance for the month.

    September 1, 2016

    - Record ATPs reflect retail strength and strong mix
    - Disciplined incentive spending significantly below industry average
    - Inventories low but growing on all-new Buick Envision, GMC Acadia and Cadillac XT5
    - Cadillac gains retail share

DETROIT – Despite very tight dealer inventories, General Motors (NYSE: GM) sold 212,915 vehicles to individual or “retail” customers in August, down about 5 percent from last year, but in line with the industry’s retail performance for the month.

Based on initial estimates, Chevrolet’s retail market share rose 0.4 percentage points in August to 11.0 percent. Chevrolet has gained retail market share in seven out of eight months this year, and remains the industry’s fastest growing full-line brand.

GM’s total sales in August were down about 5 percent year over year to 256,429 vehicles.

Some very good numbers on that list. Cruze, Volt, C/C trucks, Cascada (Seriously, how is this car selling???), CT6!!!!!, XT5 and Yukon.

A lot of the "down" products either saw a nice price increase or are older vehicles.

Otherwise, looks like they "lowered" incentives and still gained in the retail space. Seems like good news.

Wow! From all the moaning here on GMIN, I'm surprised Chevy was the industry's fastest growing full-line brand last month.

◾GM’s ATPs, which reflect retail transaction prices after sales incentives, were $36,730, nearly $5,800 above the industry average and more than $2,500 above last August’s performance
This is perhaps the most important line in the whole press release IMHO. $2500 more than last year??

Not that they are of any significance anyway, but what happened to Caprice and SS this month? 7 for caprice and 14 for SS, did a boat get lost or have they already stopped bringing them over?

Down 5% is much better than down 8.4%.

And with ATPs and Retail up, GM's plan is obviously working well.

    Good job GM!

Selling higher MSRP vehicles but with bigger incentives, with so many new models and the market softening, you have to wonder where it goes from here?

The Cadillac plan for all of GM. They aren't selling less, they're making them more exclusive.

Down 860,000? Did they sell a MILLION cars last August?

And yes, GM is at or above industry average in a down month with higher ATPs and lower incentives. Good job.

Speaking of exclusive, as of the end of August, the Camaro's average monthly sales, has now slipped to under 6,000/month.

I see Malibus everywhere. Hopefully that negative number there really is due to tight inventory. Very impressed with this car. My sister has one and it really is nicely done inside and out.

CT6 very impressive. XT5 still doing well. What! Some good news for Cadillac? About time!
Drives a 2019 Cadillac ATS Coupe and a 1988 Pontiac Trans Am GTA.

In the past, I've had a 5th gen Camaro, a CTS sedan and coupe, two 3rd gen Firebird Formulas, a convertible 4th gen Trans Am, a Reatta, a couple of Monte Carlos, an Avenger coupe, a couple of Cavalier hatchbacks, a Saturn SC1, and a Cherokee.
