UAW betrayed the workers it was meant to represent. UAW workers should start a new union, that's their best bet.

They should get rid of the union and look out for themselves - like the rest of the country.

What an absurd take. Unions are what gave us the 40 hour week, 2-day weekend, overtime and the middle class.

If the capitalists refuse to give workers their fair share, there is an engineering solution to this problem

Edit: I'm not unionized, I don't think anyone in the software industry is, but we would be doing much better if we were. Thing is we are harder to organize since a good deal of us are on the spectrum or anti-social, I'm both myself I don't even know where to start but I do know that my coworkers and I will do better if we were.

The entire country is corrupt, be it government, industry and business, or media, so many people ripe for guillotining.

Sometimes I think the workers will finally have their moment, but then I remember this quote about how brainwashed the average American is:
"Socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires.” ― Ronald Wright

That was nearly a century ago! What have they done recently? Nothing. Maybe that's why membership is dwindling. Maybe that's why nobody likes them - even many people in them. Maybe that's why auto factories in the South won't unionize! They're no longer relevant or useful. Workers can do much better for themselves - if they try. That's the key though, they have to try. Unfortunately, that's the action that holds many union members back... which is why they're in the union...

And what is the source of your chart? I'm betting some socialist/union propaganda. It's very misleading. ~15% drop in union membership rate vs 5% share of middle class income. Where's the proof that there's a correlation? What's probably more related is that higher income has increased substantially more than the other groups, thus giving the appearance that the middle class share is shrinking. Unionization has nothing to do with it.

It's idiotic to think that the solution is to steal from the most wealthy, productive, innovative members of society and give it to others. History has shown that high taxes and high labor rates have the opposite effect - work moves, jobs go away, prices of goods go up. Stealing from the providers is not the answer.

That's funny, because the average American made America the strongest country in the world in just a short 243 years. That's what happens when socialism doesn't take root. But now you think that we need to change? Why is that again? Because of jealousy?

China did it in less Pre-Mao and socialism, China was a society of peasants, no industry at all. A similar story in the USSR, in 1917 Russia had no industry, Russians were poor farmers, then less than 40 years later they sent the first man to space before even the USA. This in spite of a Civil War that had America and other Western nation meddle in the hope of collapsing the Soviets, and in spite of WW2 where over 20 million Russians died and a Nazi invasion. America didn't have to put up with anything like that, oh and America stole patents and IP when it was industrializing.

I want that! I want something that is better for the American worker.

PS: I'm not jealous, but the Bible does say the rich are going to hell. The real question is: why are you such a bootlicker? Do you think they will throw you a bone?

China did it, at the cost of 50 million (at least) people.

Because native lives and slave lives don't matter? We are just going to forget all the wars America waged for frivolous reason, like Iraq's WMDs that weren't there, and whatever got us in Vietnam? The Great Leap was a well-intentioned planning disaster and Mao admitted to it. The famine happened for many reasons, some of them weren't within China's control, like WW2, the Japanese invasion, and over 20 million dying as a result. America lost 400K in WW2 and wasn't invaded, China and Russia each were invaded and lost over 20 million. Comparing results post-WW2 isn't entirely fair.

Thankfully I never called for that

No one can deny, and the fact so many people voted for Trump proves, that people want to root out the establishment and drain the swamp. People are upset about outsourcing, corruption and being forgotten. I'm just not as eloquent in my words
