    2019 GM 3.0L I6 Diesel Rated at 277hp and 460lb-ft

    TFL Truck

Finally! The 2019 Chevy Silverado 3.0L Diesel Specs Are Here

We have been patiently waiting to find out how much power the 3.0-liter straight six diesel in the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra will make, and now the answer is upon us.

The new 3.0-liter Duramax in both the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra will produce 277 horsepower at 3750 rpm and 460 lb-ft of torque at 1500 rpm. The power will be sent through a 10-speed automatic transmission.

This means that the GM 3.0-liter is the most powerful diesel in a half-ton on the market. The Ford F-150 uses a 3.0-liter diesel as well producing 250 hp and 440 lb-ft of torque, though its a V6 rather than inline cylinders.

The 2019 Ram 1500 still isn’t available with the updated EcoDiesel, though when it is made available again, it will likely produce the same 260 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque that was announced for the engine by the Jeep brand.

I wonder if this is the engine that is going in the XT4?

A straight 6 in the XT4? I'd seriously seriously doubt it.

This engine does sound pretty awesome, it just may be powering my next truck!

Way too big for a compact FWD vehicle. The XT4 should be getting a 4cyl diesel.

Opel has a 2.0L diesel with 210hp 354lb-ft that would be nice in the XT4.

It's too early to tell at this point, as diesel powered T1XX trucks haven't yet been released for sale to retail and fleet customers yet. Nor has GM provided pricing details on the Duramax inline 6 option.

No. In September 2018, Automotive News reported that Cadillac "put diesel engine development on the back burner, citing the industry's rapid shift to electric vehicles."

The LB7 6.6L Duramax V8 was introduced in 2001 with 300hp and 520tq. The new 3.0L Duramax nearly matched that with modern emissions equipment.

Yeah.. but the XT4 has been spotted a lot lately sporting tailpipes denoting diesel.

Thanks DaBangBang for the update, is there any chance the diesel (I presume a PSA 4-cylinder) will be offered in the U.S. market?

Forget trying to identify engine from the tailpipe configuration - tailpipes signify nothing, they can be anything the designer wants, including not visible.

Unlikely to be a PSA diesel for Cadillac - GM retained the IP rights for the GM Powertrain Torino diesels and allows Opel to use them under licence for its Astra and Insignia legacy models - I'd expect any 4-cylinder diesels used by Cadillac, Buick asnd Chevrolet to come from GM Powertrain Torino.
