    GMI To Undergo Redesign
GMI marks a decade with a new look.

    By: Nick Saporito

Update: Due to the LA Auto Show this week and final tweaks of the new site, the redesign has been pushed back until Monday, November 21st. The process will began at about 2:00 AM ET on Monday morning. The entire process will likely take about 12 hours to complete. Upon completion, GMInsideNews will be all-new with a totally new design, upgraded software and new features for our users. We appreciate your patience as we improve the web's GM News Source.

GMI is pleased to announce that an all-new look is coming next week. On Monday, November 14th, GMI will be down for an extended period of time as the site is completely overhauled with a new design and the latest software.

Our new look has been in the works for several months now, which includes vBulletin 4.0, a new design theme and redesigned branding. The changes are intended to mark the site's recent milestone of being online for a decade and will undoubtedly make for a more pleasant experience for our loyal readers.

The changes and new look should not cause any loss of information or accounts.

As soon as the site is back up, exclusive coverage of the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show will begin on Tuesday. Nick, Alex and Tony will be heading to LA on Tuesday for first-hand coverage. You will not want to miss next week!

So please bear with the changes and downtime on Monday...we promise it will be worth the wait!

    -Nick

If it is just a change of colors or graphics, go for it. However, I really hope you don't start moving stuff around.

The layout of the forums will remain unchanged. Most of the changes are design related, though buttons on the top, etc...will be changed.

There will be one theme, like today. I would call the new one a touch darker than the current one.

The current design has been in place since early 2008. We like to keep things fresh.

Also, the software update will allow for a more blog-like front page to reflect our status as a news outlet. The interface also appears easier for members.

...oh, so you're simply following normal automotive three-year model change cycle precedence?

    So it's not really a redesign....just more of a mid-cycle refresh?

Total redesign, but the controls will be familiar.
