    Duplicate threads

Just a gentle reminder to take a peek first before you post if you can to see if your article already has a thread. It's nice to keep the conversations together, and when we have to merge them later people sometimes get lost. Not a big deal... just something to keep and mind.

Also, when we merge two threads, it's all in chronological order (we don't decide which post comes first).

Hardy har har! The reason I say it's not a big deal is because it shows just how excited everyone at GMi is, and how good our members are at sharing info and news they find. It just makes things easier if we avoid duplicating threads.

The SuperTicker feature was nice, I'd use it from time to time as well. However, it required a lot of server power to function and at peak times of the day when there are a lot of members on, it causes the "Server busy, please try again later" message. In order to help run GMI at is best for the majority of users, the SuperTicker has been removed for the indefinite future.

I've noticed this too. It's actually violating the terms of service at worst, and adding nothing to the conversation at best:

Actually, the superticker is REALLY gone because Swahili needed the server space to host his 'Knitting and crocheting with Swahili' forum. It's really quite excellent.

He's just the strong, silent type. And he's far from the only one doing it. My suggestion would be to get rid of the smilies altogether. I don't see them serving any useful purpose.
