In an effort to participate in the ever-growing automotive industry presence on social media outlet Twitter, GMI founded #GMChat a couple months ago. GM Chat is a new hashtag based chat hosted by GMInsideNews every Tuesday evening between the hours of 9:00 - 11:00 PM ET. Only now, you don't have to be on Twitter to participate.
GMI members who are not on Twitter can actively participate in #GMChat right here. Below is a chat box that will publish all tweets with the #GMChat hashtag as they happen on Twitter. If you wish to engage, simply pick a username and start typing in the box.
Thus far #GMChat has been very successful, bringing in all types of automotive interests. Even some GM employees (many of whom are very active on Twitter) have participated in the chat.
Tonight's topics, like every week, will follow closely what the news from the last week has brought us in regards to GM. See below:
1. Frankfurt is going on now. GM does not appear to have any surprises in store. They did say that Buick/Opel will likely share more product.
2. Finally we found out that the Camaro ZL1 will pack 580 hp. Will its weight hamper it?
4. GMI Garage! Nick is touring the Lambda crossovers. He had a 2012 Acadia Denali and now has a 2012 Traverse. Bottom line? It's amazing how competitive the Lambda's are considering their age.
How do I participate in #GMChat?
Well, you have to be a Twitter user first. Once you are on Twitter, be sure to follow the @GMInsideNews account. When you see us tweet out the first topic, just chime in by tweeting with the hashtag (#GMChat) in your tweet.
We recommend that user utilize a program such as TweetDeck and create a column for the #GMChat hashtag so you can follow the whole conversation.
What is a hashtag?
It is simply a segment of characters--in our case #GMChat--that allows everyone to follow the chat that wishes too.
I come to GMI to discuss GM/automotive!
And we're glad you do! GMI has found that many of our readers are already on Twitter. #GMChat is simply an extension of GMI into a new medium. We will NEVER release information exclusively on #GMChat. It will always be here on the site first.
