Watch a Corvette Become World’s Fastest C7 then Promptly Blow Up by Sebastien Bell September 10, 2018 Share Comments Corvettes may track weapons, but light and powerful are also an excellent combination for the drag strip and this white Corvette just became the world’s fastest C7. With a 8.05 quarter mile time and 164 mph, it accelerated hard enough to pull a great wheelie on its way to its record. And all of this accomplished despite a less-than-ideal reaction time. Unfortunately, the ‘Vette didn’t have a chance to improve on the RT because the race ended in a big puff of smoke. According to the video’s publisher, the smoke was the result of the Corvette pushing a seal. Still, it’s fun to have visual proof of just how hard setting this record was. The Corvette was playing at the limits of its materials, and went so fast it blew up. Very dramatic.
