Say you're the proud owner of a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado who saw the updated Colorado's debossed tailgate (fun fact I learned today: debossing is when letters are pressed into the material and embossing is when the letters are raised) and thought it looked nice. Turns out you can still get in on the fun.
Speaking to GM Authority, Chris Bonelli from Chevy communications said that the new stamped tailgate should fit onto the pre-updated Colorados.
"If the owner of a 2015 - 2020 Chevrolet Colorado desires the new 2021 stamped tailgate, they should be able to work with their local Chevrolet service center to order the new tailgate as a service part for replacement," he told GM Authority.
He warns, though, that the tailgate isn't a certified accessory, so customers can't order it themselves.
According to a dealer who spoke to the publication, an EZ Lift and Lower tailgate in primer costs a little less than $610 and the non-EZ Lift and Lower costs $545.
