Jordan And Ricky Taylor Nab 1st Place In Chevrolet Sports Car Classic

In what turned out to be a mixed bag of an outing for Team Corvette, brothers Jordan and Ricky Taylor and their No. 10 Corvette Daytona Prototype racer took the checkered flag at Belle Isle.

Today’s victory in the Chevrolet Sports Car Classic was the fifth victory for Wayne Taylor Racing in the past seven events that have taken place on street courses, with the brothers nabbing their second consecutive street victory following their win in Long Beach back in April. The action was filled with numerous crashes especially in the prototype division.

However, Jordan Taylor managed to maneuver his way through the chaos, and edge out the pole sitting No.5 Action Express Racing Corvette DP driven by Joao Barbosa by a mere 1.740 seconds. Barbosa and his teammate Christian Fittipaldi ended up finishing second despite having a rough qualifying session when Fittipaldi spun and then flat spotted his tires, which put the duo at a slight disadvantage at the start of the race in pole posistion.

The 1-2 podium finish in the shadow of GM’s headquarters also made up for a nasty crash midway through the race when the No. 90 Visit Florida Corvette DP (pictured) driven by Marc Goossens smacked the wall with 13 minutes left in the event due to his rear wing being dislodged by prior contact.

The ensuing crash also collected the championship contending No.31 Action Express Racing Corvette DP piloted by Eric Curran which ultimately caused him to finish the race in 23rd place. As of this writing, Race 1 of the Dual in Detroit is currently underway, and I will have the full details of that race here on this thread. Stay tuned!!!
