Holden’s New Supercar Comes With a Super View

The Red Bull Holden Racing Team has unveiled their latest Commodore Supercar with a gorgeous background.

The new Supercar, running in the Australia Supercars Championship, is the first one based on the new ZB Commodore, which is in essence a front-drive Opel Insignia that replaces a long line of large rear-wheel drive saloon cars.

Team drivers Jamie Whincup–a fitting last name since he’s won the series seven times–and Shane van Gisbergen revealed the new car on the water of Sydney Harbor.

“In my world, I consider today a very big deal. We’re not only showing our supporters our 2018 livery, we’re unveiling the new-look, next-generation Commodore supercar. It’s pretty special to be able to do that in this incredible setting,” said reigning Supercars champ Whincup. Though he’s likely longing for the older V8 powered Commodores and worried about the turbo V6 that Holden’s Supercars will use in 2019.

The next-gen Supercars start their first race the beginning of March when the 2018 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship starts in Adelaide. And if you really like Aussie racing, make sure to tune into the Liqui Moly 12-Hours of Bathurst on Saturday, which will be available in full and for free on YouTube
