Gallery: Corvette History and More at the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance by Sebastien Bell March 13, 2019 Share Comments There’s too much to see at the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance. That’s not a complaint, it’s just a fact. As someone who grew up in what now appears to have been a backwater, I found myself asking if the cars I was seeing were real. “Is that real?” I asked myself over and over again. It inevitably was. Previous ImageNext ImagePreviousNextView Large The Amelia Island Concours is a show “the”s. That is THE two rotor mid-engine Corvette. That’s THE Porsche 356 that Janis Joplin owned. That’s THE Stingray concept that would eventually become the C2 Corvette. You could get whiplash from all of the neck-craning cars that are just parked hither and yon, driving around like they aren’t pant-wettingly pretty and nation-GDP-rivalingly expensive.
