Cadillac Claims MagneRide 4.0 is the Fastest-Reacting Suspension on Earth by Sebastien Bell October 16, 2020 Share Comments The fourth generation of MagneRide will be offered, for the first time, on the 2021 CT5-V and CT4-V, as well as the CT5 Sport and the Escalade. It will be the fastest-reacting active suspension system in the world, according to Cadillac. Able to react 45% faster than the third generation, MagneRide 4.0 makes use of new accelerometers, better magnetic flux control (which I suspect they did exclusively because it’s so much fun to say), and increased sensitivity to body motion. The accelerometers can read the road 1,000 times per second, which allows the Cadillacs to make more informed decisions about how to stiffen or soften the dampers. Cadillac says the shocks can react almost instantly to the road. These changes also allow the company to tune the shocks for a more pronounced difference between settings. So your comfort mode and your sport mode will feel more different, which is fun. “With MagneRide 4.0, the world’s fastest reacting suspension system is now even faster,” said Cadillac’s vehicle performance engineer, Thomas Schinderle. “When paired with our sedans’ award-winning rear-wheel-drive architecture, the result is two of the most responsive sport sedans on the market, with reflexes that elevate the already high threshold of the V-Series legacy.” MagneRide 4.0 is standard on the CT4-V and the CT5-V, and will be available on the CT5 Sport’s V Performance package. Escalade buyers will have to opt for the Sport or Platinum spec to get it.
