Brand Rivalries at GM are Getting Out of Hand… by Michael Accardi July 10, 2017 Share Comments During Sunday’s Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park the brand rivalry between Corvette and Cadillac came to a head. With twenty minutes left on the race clock, Jordan Taylor’s No.10 Konica-Minolta Cadillac DPi made contact with Tommy Milner’s No.4 Corvette C7.R sending them both into the tire barrier, with the Corvette bearing the brunt of the impact. Meanwhile, in the No.3 Corvette, Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen retained their lead in the GTLM Driver’s Championship after bringing home the other C7.R in fourth. After being forced to pit to fix the Cadillac’s broken rear wing, the Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac would emerge in seventh, where it would eventually finish. Overall victory would go to Dane Cameron and Eric Curran in the No. 31 Whelen Engineering Racing Cadillac DPi-V.R, which now gives all three Cadillac teams a victory this year and keeps GM’s winning streak alive at seven in a row. The IMSA paddock now gets a few weeks off in preparation for the Continental Tire Road Race Showcase at Road America on Sunday, August 6.
