I attempted to replace my serpentine belt today, but discovered it appears I have to disassemble part of the motor mount to do this. I've only had this car a few weeks so I'm not too familiar with the layout under the hood yet. My previous car was a Saturn & I could do it in 10 minutes, but it looks like it's gonna take a tad longer on this car. Any advice or instructions would be much appreciated!
oh yes, the engine mount on those can be very fun. there are tricks to cheat the belt on those. not easy to explain, but basically it involves a pry bar. good luck.
There is a spacer that needs to come out.I am pretty sure there is an 18mm bolt, then the stud comes out, then the spacer. It really is not that difficult.
that would be the trick. pry bar works nicely as well if you dont want to remove the spacer. just enough to turn the belt sideways and get it out of there.
Thanks for the tips! I'll take another crack at it this weekend. I'll let ya know the outcome...
