That looks like someone beat the Lexus RX with the ugly stick relentlessly.

And why does Toyota continue to use that cheap digital clock from the 1980's? I mean even some Lexus models continue to use it. It looks so out of place.
The current RAV 4 is utter rubbish inside, and is comprehensively shaded by the CRV in every way inside.

That's one of the best looking vehicles Toyota have released and definitely one of the lookers of the segment. I like where they are going style wise. Much better than that bloated mess of the last 3 years.

    LA Reveal

Three days ago we brought you the first leaked photos of the 2014 Toyota RAV-4. Today, the compact crossover saw its official reveal at the LA autoshow. Weve got high res photos and the full press release.

Mechanically, as expected, the new RAV4 loses its optional V6 engine and gets an upgraded 6 speed transmission to replace the old 4 speed. The optional 3rd row is also gone, as is the spare tire mounted on the rear hatch. The rear hatch also no longer swings out and swings up instead.

No V6 and no 3rd row (at least of now) are not surprises, with Highlander offering more trims with the four-cylinder. Interior is more conventional looking than the outgoing model (kind of bulgy and round) and that should help it. I'm glad they did keep the low cargo floor even with the move to the swing-up tailgate.

24 mpg city/31 highway puts it right in the middle of all the other small crossovers.

I thought that too when looking through the official pics - a hint of Escape in the basic greenhouse.

Like I said, the high-res photos would be much better. I love that brown interior, they did a great job on it.

Toyota is becoming the old GM, Sailing along with old merits and cutting corners whenever possible. It's a shame really, since I think there was a time they really helped elevate the state of the auto industry.

Oh well. At least now there's Hyundai to keep everyone on their toes.

Hey, look! An actual 6 speed transmission! Next they'll get rid of the maintenance battery, eh?

That's what I was thinking. I do like the exterior, but the interior seems very utilitarian, even the floor looks totally flat. I'm curious to see what they will be able to do with the MPG's. Toyota is really falling behind latley

Funny there keeping a V6 for the lighter Camry but dropping it for the CUV. Kind of seems backwards.
