Detailed the Vert today (56K no no)

Had a chance to help out the mom so I brought out the weapons.

BEFORE

Step 1: The wash
Dish wash soap (needed to cut out some OLD TurtleWax)
------Adam's Polishes Car Wash soap is pH neutral (not for removing old wax)
Adam's Polishes essentials bucket with grit guard and caddy
Adam's Polishes Wash Pad
Sprayed down the wheel wells then shot them liberally with Adam's Polishes All Purpose Cleaner. Scrubbed clean and then rinsed off using a soft brush.
Then squirted the rims and wiped them down followed with a microfiber towel dry.
Took care of the body next, washed with the top down to remind me to use the "soak" feature on the nozzle and to not squirt the car.
------This allows the water to bead rather than mist (leaving water spots.)

Step 2: The dry
Pulled the vehicle in the garage
Sprayed down with Adam's Polishes Detail Spray with our microfiber waffle drying towels.
Broke out the shop vac and dryed out the tail light housings, side view mirrors and other notorious C5 nooks and crannies.

Step 3: Clay Bar
Adam's Polishes Clay Bar
Adam's Polishes Detail Spray
---MY FAVORITE PART, makes a world of difference.

Step 4: VRT and In and Out Spray
I like to do plastic trim and tires before I do glass and body panels. This allows me to spray down the windshield cowl screen and tires without worrying about having to repeat steps like glass cleaning multiple times.

Step 5: Polish
Took care of the body with the Porter Cable 7424 @ 3000 opm's using the WHITE pad and Porter Cable adapter. 3000 opm's is a safe speed that works great.
Used Fine Machine Polish with a small mix of Swirl and Haze Remover (cotton towels used on a previous dry left their "mark.")
Wiped down after the polish session with microfiber towels and a very small amount of Detail Spray to make life easier.

Step 5: Wax
Porter Cable 7424 again @ 3000 opm's using the BLACK pad this time.
Used Adam's Polishes Machine SuperWax.
Let it cure for 20 minutes then removed with a microfiber towel and again a very small amount of Detail Spray to make life easier.

Step 6: Interior
Carpet looked great so didn't need to do much except vacuum it. Used Adam's Polishes Leather and Interior Cleaner to remove smudges on the tan portions of the interior with an Adam's Polishes Microfiber Applicator Pad.
-------ALWAYS spray onto the pad not the interior.
Wiped clean with a microfiber towel.
Took some Adam's Polishes Leather Conditioner with a microfiber applicator pad and wiped down the entire interior including the seats.
------That's why glass is so late in the game, you will probably get Leather Conditioner on the windshield.

Step 7: Glass
Adam's Polishes Glass Cleaner inside and out using a microfiber towel.
Followed with Detail Spray for a bit of shine.

Step 8: Brilliant Spray Glaze
Adam's Polishes Brilliant Spray Glaze with a microfiber applicator pad. Wiped down all glass and all paint.
Let dry for 10 minutes then wipe off with a microfiber towel.

Step 9: Wheel Polish
Adam's Polishes Metal Polish 1 with a microfiber applicator pad wiped down with a microfiber towel followed with Adam's Polishes Metal Polish 2 on a microfiber applicator pad and again wiped down with a microfiber towel.

AFTER

AND SOME FUN

Nice car, even though it's just an ad.

My custom kit is coming on Friday. Hopefully, I will get a chance to practice on the prizm before doing the Silvy.

Beautiful automobile! Nothing accentuates the bond between man and machine quite like a well thought out and thorough detail session. After all the waxes, towels and sprays are put back into the house the sublimity of that view of your car as the perfect thing that it was meant to be, as well as the inevitable cruise around town is that of a fine wine.

Man, I'm gonna run out and buy 17 bottles of Adam's this-that-and-the-other so that my wife's minivan looks as cool as that car. I bet using the Detail Spray will be my fav part, too.

Question: does Adam's make anything to get the smell of spoiled milk out of carpet?

Once she is all cleaned up, I'm gonna go with a vanity plate. What do you all think about: WHNISCALISECEDNG

Our interior cleaners should be able to kick that out. Check out our Dealers page to find a dealer near you to get a one on one demonstration.

Re: Detailed the Vert today (56K no no)

Wow. And I thought my wash-and-wax was long and time consuming. It's no where as thorough as this process.

Man, I wish I had the patience to put so much time into detailing. I completely agree with osiris. I feel you can't really say a car belongs to you unless you put your own sweat into it. But it just bothers me to spend so much time with my car at a standstill when its meant to be driven! This is why I have such a hard time committing myself to detailing my car. I wait until the sun goes down before I start washing to keep it from baking water spots on the finish, but by the time I'm done, I'm all wet and exhausted and its too late to go anywhere. But with that said, I don't like anyone else touching my car.

I do have a question though. How did you wash the car with the top down and keep the water from flowing down behind the seats?

Regardless of what your favorite brand is a make sure it is a multi-stage system like Adam's Polish is. The multistage systems are amazing!

Nice stuff!

Most of these systems can be done in one day. I did mine (with another system) in about 5 hours. Looks stunning.

If you really care about your car, picking something like this up is a must.

You use a nozzle like this one:
http://www.adamspolishes.com/p-49-fi...ay-nozzle.aspx

It allows you to adjust the stream to a very steady slow flow so you can control where the water goes. It's like having your hose turned on at 5%. Very easy to manage.

Re: Detailed the Vert today (56K no no)

Do you aim it from the back of the seats away towards the trunk? I'd like to know because when I wash my Solstice, i leave the top up and it gets wet. Then I have to wait for it to dry before I can put it down and wax the silver painted areas behind the seats.

How often would you recommend a full detail? Should I detail every time I wash or detail every 2-3 washes?

I like to aim side by side, angled toward the back. I stand in front of the rear tire and aim back basically.

I like to do a full detail every oil change with constant maintenance in between. Maybe wash the car once a month - it only gets about 50 miles per week on it.

This may be a dumb question but your pics made me think of something i never thought of before--how do you wash the paint behind the headrests? Obviously you wash the car with the top up, but do you just use windex or something to get that little bit of paint? Can you tell I haven't owned a convertible before?

edit: sorry, i didn't read the few posts above mine before making my post. Very interesting, but I don't think I'd trust myself even with that super nozzle.

It's easier than you think. VERY LOW water pressure and you have control
