Re: Will New GM Succeed??

Doubtful- unless the govt forgoes their borrowing the $50 billion. Hell japan is into their automakers for far more than this in the last decade; Witness Jim pRess' commented where he said the hybrib tech was purchased by their govt

Obama won't let them fail - too many union votes, too much money invested, and too big a failure for his presidency. Like it or not, GM is political at this point.

Since when is a company a success just because it has a back door to the treasury. They need product, product, product. And get rid of all the old management. I just read that the head of R&D is going. First thought was R&D??? Then I read that he tossed a billion (yes billion) on hydrogen power. What planet was he from? They have to clean house, NOW!

Re: Will New GM Succeed??

I think it will be successful because the US government can't afford for them to fail. We'll have nice cars produced by gm, but I wander if we'll have cars that people are enthusiastic about, or best selling transportation appliances? I hope that we can retain and develop cars that people want to buy, instead of just cars that are good from point a to point b. I'll probably stick with my 68 GTO and my 08 Grand Prix GXP for a while, because I'm not sure if there is anything in the new GM portfolio that I'd rather have.
