So, what do you think? Will General Motors Company be a smashing success or will history repeat itself?

I don't think the alleged deeds of one man can bring down a company that enjoys the backing of the federal government of the United States of America.

The company will be a success. It is time for a little optimism.

No, Not without More Goverment help.

Too little, Too late, with out a saviour (K Car, Taurus, or Caravan) in the pipeline

The Volt maybe the next Taurus, except for the "We will loose X#'s of $$$'s/unit"

I want it to. We'll see. The laughs I endured at the Transformers movie over a Buick commercial (and they weren't laughing WITH the ad but laughing AT it) were not promising.

I hope it does but its not going to be an easy task at all. I have a feeling the damage has already been done.

Re: Will New GM Succeed??

It is time for a new GM to rise out of the ashes of the old. If all the employees from the person in the executive office down to the guy sweeping the floor in the Assembly plant do their job with a new spirit of excellence and service to the customer GM will succeed.

Re: Will New GM Succeed??

I cant believe there are so many doubters...The future sounds great...in a short while GM will be the healthiest its been in decades.

Yes brands have been dropped and dealerships will be closing...Do you think GM will be happy being small...and now GM will be making money...they wont have to sqeeze suppliers for cheaper (unreliable) parts...in the near future dealerships will open brighter cleaner and better locatins......One good thing will lead to another.

As much as I dispise consumers, I think they will be quick to jump on the GM bandwagon...Look for membership at this site to increase as GM gains popularity...
OMG...GM doesnt suck anymore!

Re: Will New GM Succeed??

Too early to tell... and the answer depends greatly on what you consider succeding.

From a purely financial POV (ie will it go bankrupt again) it's too soon to tell, but I think they may be alright for some time, but not forever.

But if you want a variety of truly great cars its also too soon to tell, but not looking very good at the moment.

Re: Will New GM Succeed??

There's a saying in sports: that's why they play the games.

I cannot tell you how many teams looked like world champions on paper, only to fall short of expectations, and sometimes drastically.

All this talk about doing things right, customer focus, focus on product, and making promises that Fritz has been doing....... I will believe it when I see it.

How many times in the past did the old GM promise to make cars that would beat the Japanese products? Lots of talk.

I want action before I make my decision.

Re: Will New GM Succeed??

I know it's a GM board and all, but the rational side of my brain is not optimistic at all. It seems that new GM is going to repeat a lot of the mistakes that 'old GM' made, in particular product overlap and cutting corners.

That said, I've been proven wrong many times before, and really hope I'm wrong in this instance. I'd like GM to stick around for another 100 years.
