id imagine theyd give the u.s version a v6. also, the Buick Invicta concept had 3 on each side, but it was a 4cyl engine

The ports need to go, but the car needs to come to the US.

If you wanna get porthole-technical... back in the 'day, only the Roadmaster had 4 "ventiports". The cheaper Supers and Specials only had three. And all had eight-cylinder engines...

**** the gdamm portholes. We're nearly a decade into the new millenium. Time to leave all the 1950s **** behind. And if you're gonna do the damn porthole thing, MAKE THEM ROUND. Square portholes? What ship has square portholes? The HMS Spongebob Squarepants?

As soon as it gets port-holes and not a generic and stupid fender vent, out it on a boat and get it there.

I agree, make them round and keep them on the fender, not the hood. And why ditch them? They're classy. Sticking a shiney fender vent on anything and everything is not (Aveo/G3, Focus, VUE, Regal, every other car that doesn't need it). At least on the CTS, they made it look integrated and intended from the start. And by putting one on all of these others (I know the Focus is Ford) it cheapens the good ones.

No kidding. This should go on sale ASAP here in the States if GM and Buick has any hope for survival. Drop the Lacrosse and Lucerne and replace with the new Lacrosse and Regal. Sell that along side the very nice Enclave and suddenly Buick has a compelling well rounded line up.

Did port holes even have a purpose back in the day?

Re: Should GM Sell Chinese Buick Regal in NA?

If you belive wiki.
A traditional Buick styling cue dating to 1949 is a series of three or four portholes or vents on the front fender behind the front wheels. The source of this design feature was a custom car (one not made by Buick, but personal car of stylist Ned Nickles), which in addition had a flashing light within each hole, each synchronized with a specific spark plug simulating the flames from the exhaust stack of a fighter airplane. Combined with the bombsight mascot (introduced in the 1940s), the ventiports put the driver at the controls of an imaginary fighter airplane. The flashing light feature was not used by Buick in production, but the portholes remained as nonfunctional ornamentation.

These were originally called "Ventiports" as they did allow air flow into the engine bay (later just "portholes"). Ventiports have appeared sporadically on several models since.

Lower cost models were equipped with three portholes, while higher cost models came with four. Often, people would denote their cars as "Four-Holers" or "Three-Holers" to assert the car's class. When the number of portholes was standardized across the entire model line, buyers of the higher cost models complained bitterly that they felt shortchanged

I want the lights in the holes.

Re: Should GM Sell Chinese Buick Regal in NA?

I had to put "Other." it is mainly because I don't understand the relationship between Lacrosse and Regal. On the surface, it looks like they are kissing cousins of each other. Like a Le Sabre/Century relationship instead of a Regal/Park Avenue relationship.

So, until someone can explain to me the fundamental differences between Lacrosse and Regal and why they should co-exist in the NA market, I have to go with "Other."

Because, honestly, if they are very close to each other, I'd rather see Regal as an Aura.
