I like the STS, but you make some good points about it. It may be just me, but I've been seeing a lot of them on the road recently. Big incentives?

Re: Most Desperate GM Product
I'd say the Chevy Equinox. Probably more than any other GM product, it's miserably failing to live up to its sales potential. A fresh new set of clothes, competent powertrain, and resized to CR-V/RAV4 dimensions, and Equinox sales would probably double.
Or replace it with an updated Captiva... |

Re: Most Desperate GM Product
The results of the poll reflect my thoughts exactly. In the face of rocketing gas prices, both the Cobalt/G5 and Colorado/Canyon will be instrumental in bringing about increased sales. Small cars will continue to be huge sellers and GM needs to show that they actually care about this segment to get a piece of the action. The current Cobalt is a great start, but it is time to forge on aggressively. The Cobalt should be priority with a strong replacement for the current model with the Colorado pulling in a close second. Some people just flat need a pickup and a strong, efficient Colorado could be just the ticket.

Re: Most Desperate GM Product
I didn't vote for the Cobalt because we know that it will be replaced soon. I considered the Impala in need of a replacement, or at least a major re-working. What that re-working should include is the latest powertrain, meaning the 3.6 and six speed, and a wheelbase stretch to increase rear legroom. It hardly has any more than the Malibu, and whenever I try sitting behind myself in one, my knees are always in the back of the front seat. Other than that, the changes the car needs are minor.

Re: Most Desperate GM Product
It was a hard pick between the Cobalt and the Colorado. With gas prices the way the are, each product has an excellent opportunity to make the turn around like the new Malibu.
Both products have been left to rot for WAY to long.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the Aveo yet. I agree, the Cobalt could stand for a redesign. I am happy to see the XFE edition out though- hopefully that'll keep sales going. I'd like to see the Aveo get a fresh start- something that is actually appealing to Americans.

Re: Most Desperate GM Product
Cobalt...imagine a new "Malibu-like" introduction with a new design Cobalt. You think Malibu's are selling well, with $4 gas likely here to stay, a new fuel sipper with looks will get LOTS of attention.

Re: Most Desperate GM Product
Cobalt has a greater need for gutting but the sad Colorado is a pretty close second. What's sad is GM is a truck expert and the Colorado is not a good representive of that fact.
Is the Colorado a turd? No, its just not very competitive. Now the STS is just plain sad. For a semi-Flagship vehicle it is subpar. It has a tired interior, dated exterior and drives like an 80s buick. The CTS can't shoulder all of Caddy's sales and goodwill alone. The future STS or DTS or Whatever the name will be should be a true Flagship with no shortcuts.

Re: Most Desperate GM Product
I voted for the Canyon/Colorado. It's too bad GM couldnt keep the S-10 alive with continous improvements and have a small/mid/full size truck line becuase right now I bet S10 sales would be enjoying some good numbers!

The Colorado/Canyon needs to be replaced asap, but the LaCrosse should be GM's top priority. The Invicta concept scheduled for Feb production can't come soon enough. This new vehicle has the most potential for improving GMs sales figures IMO.
