Most Desperate GM Product
By now it is obvious that GM is working a quickly as possible to see that their entire lineup is in tip-top shape. Nonetheless, there are stragglers in the product lineup that are...not in such shape.
Out of those, which needs replaced ASAP? |

Re: Most Desperate GM Product
G5 needs to stop being a rebadged Cobalt.
G6 needs an update. All Epsilons could use Nav. Impala needs an update. GM needs to start getting more 6 speed automatics into their cars. Oh, and the GMT-355s. Complete redesign needed there, or the Denali XT concept or something.

Re: Most Desperate GM Product
I vote for the Cobalt without any doubt. The Cobalt is by no means a bad car (it is underrated!), but with high gas prices...GM could afford to have a new Cobalt out right now.
FYI: The all-new "world" Cobalt will appear mid-2009 as a 2010 model. GM initially planned a mid-cycle enhancement for the 2009 MY (to go with the new SS), but it was canceled as GM pushed up the all-new 2010 model. |

Re: Most Desperate GM Product
GM needs to drop some heavy hints (i.e. sketches, "spyshots") about the next Impala now.
I cannot get the image of "Superman" Taurus out of my head when thinking about my next sedan right now.

Re: Most Desperate GM Product
colorado/canyon is at the top of my list, with the cost of fuel so high many people who still want a truck will at least consider a smaller truck, and the colorado/canyon really need a complete redesign something similar to the larger trucks, and a small v8 wouldn't hurt at all either.

The Uplander and Montana SV6. Their death can't come soon enough and the Lambdas are not an appropriate substitution.

Re: Most Desperate GM Product
I have to pick Cobalt (and not because I dislike the car...I love mine). Sit a Cobalt next to a Malibu and the Cobalt does not sell every time. That is completely counterintuitive that the more expensive car sells more units. As gas goes up, there are going to be much fewer people who are buying a truck for the looks.
Admitedly, the Colorado needs a refresh but those Colorado customers are not going to other brands to buy a small truck. Those customers are buying cars and the Cobalt is not strong enough today to steal customers away. G6 also needs help but Malibu sales are holding that segment down for GM. Cobalt with an interior 80% as nice as the Malibu, option for 18" wheels, move to the updated grille and 37mpg (which they are right there now) and its there. Sure they can make it like the WTCC if they want to double sales, but I would settle for a baby Malibu with a 4-door and coupe. |

Re: Most Desperate GM Product
I'm gonna vote Cobalt (And G5!!!) cuz mostly the sedan is what I think needs & has needed changing from day one
& goes with my theory of the bell curve of sales shifting its peak to the Cobalt's size the Cobalt coupe has always and still looks Great imho tho a new hood/grille/fascia+trunklid, going for something 'StandOut'/extreme - just to hit the consumer over the head & make them take a new look at it would be a GoodThing & specifically to Quote:
just click the pic in my current sig

Re: Most Desperate GM Product
Cobalt, G6 and Colorado in that order.
With gas prices, right now the Cobalt needs assistance, but we know it is coming in a year. G6 and Colorado has had very little as far as enhancements as well as any major future news. GM still needs more then what it currently offers.

Re: Most Desperate GM Product
Cobalt/G5
Entry level product has to be a Wow vehicle to keep the upcoming "My Dad always drove a Chevy" generation. Unlike say the Civic, Mazda 3 and even the last generation Focus. (the new generation seems to attract the 60 something) GM has years neglected the "My first GM" and many bad expriences have made them "My last GM" |
