I will agree on the current Impala, Malibu Hybrid, and Colorado, simply not good enough but everything else remains competitive (or superior - Camaro and Silverado 1500 ) and there are a lot of potential hits coming up.

I say B, because we need new people in the GM fold. Same people running GM- they probably have a different way of thinking now (for the better), but it's the same people. We need some fresh young people to run this company, IMO.

I would agree with that, I think it would really help.

You just gave me three examples right there. Also the upcoming Cruze has gotten a lukewarm reception at best and replacements for the Impala and Malibu are way to war in the horizon to count.

Just look at the thread about the online chat with the guy that heads Chevy, I didn't participate but reading it was heartbreaking. Very few people here fell for the corporate mumbo-jumbo.

I gave them a "C" because there is still a ton of work to be done updating and refining their products. I am very pleased with the new Equinox though, hopefully a sign of great things to come.

Re: How Do You Rate The New GM's First 100 Days?

B minus. In my local grading system, that's an 85 out of 100.

With outside help and a push from the government, the new GM has been pulled back onto their feet. The only problem is that one false move can send them back into oblivion.

Again, like others, I stress globalization. Especially with GM's Holden brand.

I also stress streamlining of products. Not exactly "rushing" production, but really getting a flow moving, such as redesigning all or most cars on one platform on the same year. Like...a new Malibu, Impala, Regal, and Lacrosse that are all redesigned on the same year or close to it (M/R one year, I/L the next).

Re: How Do You Rate The New GM's First 100 Days?

For the first 100 days I give them a "B" due to the huge number of issues that needed to be addressed in a very short time, so the first 100 days has been more of a "mid-term" exam than a "final", the real "make or break" test will be at the 1 year mark.

Hopefully there will be another poll at the 200 day mark and we can evaluate the progress, and since there is a long way to go the grade could go down.

Re: How Do You Rate The New GM's First 100 Days?

C.

When I think of things like the XTS, upcoming GMC Vibe, utter lack of dedication to using the Zeta platform, the SRX, or lets just face it the whole Cadillac brand, maybe even the LaCrosse, lack of globality and probably a few others I cannot think of now, I feel like GM is going nowhere.

But then I look at the Volt, CTS-V, Corvette, Camaro, and Equinox, vehicles for which I have nearly no complaints about, as well as the ATS and perhaps the Alpha platform, and I feel hope.

It's really about 50/50 for me.
