Do you agree with the GMInsidenews assessment of the New GM?

Now you have the chance to have your say.
What grade do you give the New GM for it's first 100 Days?

Had to give a C here. I've seen some improvement, but too much "old GM" remains.

Everything we are seeing is the Old GM product wise but we are seeing management shake ups, which are good!

Perhaps the E should have been an I for Incomplete.

B. because yes old habits remain, but its only been 100 days. You can't completely redo the entire organization right away. Doing it little by little, and in my opinion, their priorities are generally in order. Fix perception first with advertisement, while adding new product where it needs it most. Yes Impala's old but it was still the 5th best selling sedan last month, malibu 9th. Cant produce everything at once, and with the money being hard to come by, you have to pick and choose.

Think of it like a diesel tractor trailer. takes some time to change gears and go from a stand still to haulin' ass down the road, but when it does, you might wanna move our lil toyota to the next lane.

D+.

Old habits remain. Product is coming, but it's slow in coming. Too slow in coming. And not fully global still.
Changes are being made, but the only outsider is Whitaker. Again, not good enough.
UAW lingers still.
Consolidation hasn't happened fast enough.
GM is dragging its feet on Opel -- purposely or not. A decision needs to have been made a long time ago.

It really still is the same old GM. A bit slow. Same practices. Feet dragging. Same people.

I'm not convinced they have learned their lesson.

Re: How Do You Rate The New GM's First 100 Days?

Who makes these polls with constantly incomplete or just plain WRONG options

Some schools grade along the lines of A, B, C+, C, C-, D and F...
Many Colleges and High Schools go hog wild with A+, A, A-,B+, B, B-... bla bla bla...

Whatever... never seen an "E" anywhere...

I would have liked to have given a C+... so I was generous with a B.

I do see some degree of accountability being displayed at the New GM... Which is a HUGE breath of fresh air with the "departure" of LaNeve and the CFO... Definitely an HUGE improvement over the "If at first you don't succeed, try, try, try, try, try, try try again" attitude that we saw with Wagoner.

It will be interesting to see if this new level of accountability remains.

MG is right it still takes GM too long to make decisions and too long to move new product out of the door. Though they did manage to shut down Saturn over a weekend after talks broke down. Not sure that that was a good thing though.

The green light of the Z28 and the CTS-V Wagon are moves in the right direction... but the release of the CTS Stort Wagon without a manual gear box was another "decision making" blunder...

The constant and continuing flip flops on the Zeta platform should also have someone "spending more time with their family"

They have a long way to go... but compaired to where we were last fall (er last fail) IMO we are miles ahead.

Re: How Do You Rate The New GM's First 100 Days?

"D"

For several reasons; (1) they seem to be rebuilding the company from the top down, great luxury (Cadillac CTS) and niche (Chevrolet Corvette) cars, but not so hot mainstream vehicles. And I am not so sure about this strategy. (2) Still one division (GMC) too many (3) Lots of public back and forth and way too many big "personalities" to allow for team work, not so sure about Miss Docherty either.

My high school only displayed + and - during the quarter end. But the GPA was calculated without + and -. So, A=4.0, B=3.0, etc. At the end of the semester, You got A, B, C, D, F, I. That's it. No + or -.

My college didn't have "grades" per se. You could opt for them if you wanted to. Or you could just get a "Pass/No Pass." And there was a narrative evaluation written by the professor and T/A to accompany youre grade or pass/no pass. No GPA was calculated.
