Re: Which GM Brand(s) Do You Think Should Get The Chop?
Cutting GMC makes sense, but why is GM keeping Saturn? The sales aren't there, and Saturn only sells cars that are basically comparable to Chevrolets. The Astra, as good as it is, is bombing... and so is the Aura. Pontiac is the only branch selling really sporty cars now (G8, Solstice, but the G5 was a huge mistake), other than Chevrolet (Corvette, Cobalt SS Turbo, and future Camaro). It also has a much larger dealer network. GM just needs to make EVERY GM brand as customer friendly as Saturn dealerships, and really really fix the sales and service departments and sales of Pontiac-Buick-GMC. I've not come across a single PBG dealership that was friendly and customer service savvy.

Re: Which GM Brand(s) Do You Think Should Get The Chop?
The reason i picked hummer out of all of themis this. As an offroad maniac and tried and try owner of a very capable 2wd frontier i can say that the way hummer has been knocking things out is kinda ridiculous. I mean the H3 saves everybit of offroad capability this comany had. The H2 though i fine rig and vehicle was plague with not so great advertisement on Gm behalf towards it's should've been true roots. I would love to see this brang flurish and become something that Jeep has been going away from. Though i'll have to see and pray it happens before it's 2 late for one of my favorite GM brands.

You need a truck brand for a mid-level brand and there is only one to pick from - GMC. GM has the BPG part right, it needs to drop Saturn or put it with Chevrolet. |

Re: Which GM Brand(s) Do You Think Should Get The Chop?
It's insane to think GMC should get chopped. There are lots of monied people out there in the rich suburbs and farm country who buy Denalis, and they're not likely to buy the Chevy equivalent instead. GMC and "Denali" have an upper income and educated consumer base that GM is otherwise sorely lacking in general.
As LaNeve recently pointed out, considering to cut or sell any brand other than Hummer makes no sense whatsoever.

I have voted Cadillac Chevrolet and Saturn. If Saab was there, I would have voted Saab too.

Re: Which GM Brand(s) Do You Think Should Get The Chop?
I placed my vote for pontiac, to me it seems every car that pontiac has come out with has been a flop. For example, the GTO, now the G8, Ive seen way more sky's than solstice, the G5 and torrent are just copies of other vehicles, the grand prix is looking very old now. What does pontiac have to its own?? The G8 which is barely selling, the G6 which is a really good looking car but again i havnt seen many, and the vibe???? Dont get me wrong if i had the money i would of had a GTO in my garage when they were being produced and probably i would have a G8 right now if i had the cash.... but if i had a choice to buy the G8 or a CTS i'm going to buy a CTS... Pontiac LIVED off the firebird/trans am now there gone and not returning cut them and put funds somewhere else

Re: Which GM Brand(s) Do You Think Should Get The Chop?
hmmm i'm guessing most of you are american? i shows in the way your voting. Saab makes sense in Europe because of their past, I personally they have the potential to go far IF GM want to back them, which it seems they do. However I do think that the resourses could be better managed between Saab and Cadillac. I'm sure someone's said this before but Cadillac would be better if it was US and Asian market only - people in Europe just don't buy them, I've never seen one in Europe. Saab should only be offered in the US if their is the possibility for better products and one of the other brands is dropped.
Saab should get the money used to set Cadillac up in Europe to expand their product range in Europe and GM should give Saab a clear goal. Cadillac should also be given free range on engine sizes etc to appeal to upper class americans and Saab should go at the base with small efficient engines which would appeal the a different demographic. Saab should be more practical than Cadillac but overall Cadillac should be more sporting than Saab. Last edited by Dan9-1 : 09-01-2008 at 04:01 PM. Reason: accidentally clicked post |
