    Cadillac Escalade

EDIT: I rescanned the drawing, and I found out how to control the brightness for my scanner! The drawing should be easier to see, especially the side curves and creases. I gave it a longer, taller, hood, and raised rear roof, along with tapered front and rear ends for additional approach and departure angles. Once I color this, the size and distance of those front fenders sticking out should be more noticeable. The front is almost an inch or two wider than the GMT-900 Escalade.

    Here is the original upload:

For those who can't see the image for some reason, here is the same drawing as the top one, except it is my DeviantArt upload (I hope it works):

Just for fun, here are the specs and other info for the Escalade lineup:

Platform: Unibody or the next generation full-size truck platform (C3XX?), RWD/AWD/4WD
    Engines: 6.2 V8,, 6.2 Hybrid, 4.5 V8 Diesel
Trims: Standard, Platinum, V (Maybe, if a big huge performance SUV makes sense market-wise today)
Most important features: Active/all-terrain suspension, all-glass roof with dimmer, LED headlights...

The drawing shows the standard model that is equipped with an active suspension that lowers itself at higher speeds, which is why the front view sits high while the rear view sits lower. I don't know if this would be sensible in any way, but this Escalade would also have good off-road capabilities (to compete with Land Rover, and Toyota's landcruiser). The active suspension could have an option to lift the vehicle one or two inches or so just in case the driver wished to take a...shortcut somewhere.

The only problem is that it looks too much like a scaled-up version of the SRX from the rear 3/4. The proportions are dead-on, the drawing is just amazing in fact.

    Re: Cadillac Escalade

    I like it,

a few things I'd rethink, the front is a bit too much like the old Toyota Landcruiser Prado, and it's a bit predictable, it doesn't scream next generation caddy, also misses a few key buyers who have the Escalade for the bling appeal. Maybe some Audi RS6 style square flared wheel arches, or something to modernise it... Have a look at the new Mercedes E-Class, some of the touches along the side and front could work amazingly on this.

Very cool though, the back end pulls the long lights thing off amazingly all without being too Saabish, and your proportions and sketching skills knock me over, keep at it.

    Re: Cadillac Escalade

Thanks everyone. My scanner isn't too good, so the drawing is very hard to see.

Some things I should have mentioned. The fenders up front stick out ALOT...maybe 4 or 5 inches or so, so it is definitely wide. There are also a lot of ridges, creases and many other lines that didn't show up.

I'll be uploading better versions soon. Stay tuned!

    Re: Cadillac Escalade

the problem is that these renderings break no new ground. They look like the Current Cadillac showroom, there is nothing new about them.

How about breaking some new ground?

    Re: Cadillac Escalade

I understand that my design isn't ground breaking, but, like I said in my first post, this design was supposed to be a Lambda Escalade. It was going to be a response to the Edmunds.com photochop. So, I wanted to try incorporating Cadillac's current, and future (XTS) design themes from concept vehicles onto this Escalade.

The contest started while I was working on this design, so I decided to make it an entry.

I have already made some changes to make it look a little more off-road ready, but also revised the front to look more truck-like. Roof racks are deleted, and all-glass roof takes its place. I may upload the update in the coming days.

I'm going to try to upload a colored version done with photoshop as well to give you guys an idea of how angular and aggressive the design really is.

    Re: Cadillac Escalade

Very nice, it looks about 98% production ready. However that may be a hinderance. I think the long vertical tailights ala CTS sportwagon are awesome, I just think it might need to differentiate itself from the SRX a bit. I love the front end though!

I agree, I always envisioned the next-gen Escalade with those long taillights.

    Re: Cadillac Escalade

Excellent sketch I think it would work well as a next generation Escalade. I also like that your sketch keeps the Escalade on it's current platform but goes uni-body and the powertrains are perfect. However does the 3.6L have enough power to move the Escalade without returning terrible performance/fuel economy?
Can you guess what he's going to do with the big fist?

I think it looks very good. It doesn't look as big as the current model, yet I can tell it is (if that makes any sense).

    Re: Cadillac Escalade

I have uploaded the revised drawing.

However does the 3.6L have enough power to move the Escalade without returning terrible performance/fuel economy?
I thought about that, and I decided, this wouldn't have a V6. I think a V8 is just the right engine type for this truck. I changed the specs by the way.

the front is a bit too much like the old Toyota Landcruiser Prado
I just googled that truck, and I see how it can be similar. But, my grille design is basically an altered version of the XTS grille. This drawing was started before the contest, and it was my response to Edmunds' photochop, so that's why this Escalade seems derivative.
