Company invests $100 million dollars in Nebraska to build ethanol enzyme production facility, creates 100 jobs for Nebraskans

Novozymes has selected Blair, Nebraska as the location for its new production facility bringing approximately 100 new jobs to the state initially. The facility will produce enzymes for existing corn-based ethanol and later enzymes for cellulosic ethanol production.

The new facility will be located on a 30-acre property at the Biorefinery Campus in Blair, Nebraska, approximately 25 miles north of Omaha. Novozymes expects to break ground in late 2008 with operations beginning in late 2010. The investment is expected to be USD 80–100 million.

IMB issues fresh piracy warning to vessels in Gulf of Aden

Following a month that has seen seven vessels hijacked in the region, the ICC International Maritime Bureau (IMB) has issued a fresh piracy warning to all vessels sailing in the Gulf of Aden.

Three vessels were hijacked in a twelve hour period last night. Two bulk carriers and a chemical tanker were seized by pirates and are currently heading for pirate bases on the Somali East coast.

In addition to this most recent activity there have been four further hijackings since the beginning of June, one of which has been successful. Three more vessels have also been fired upon since that time.

People have LoJack on a $20,000 car, it can't be that hard to track a tanker. How on Earth can they expect to get away with that? It's ludicrous.

Well it's not too terribly hard to sink a ship when you've got explosives and whatnot... Kill everyone onboard, sink the sucker, you're done. It's not like this is an area of the world that's totally developed.

Somali pirates are very common, it is IMO the most dangerous place in the world

US NAVY patrols the coast of Somalia 24/7/365 just to catch these *******s

France just recently sent a commando team to take care of a bunch of those pirates and free the hostages they took of a French ship, I was like

No need to sink really, that is no good, use for scrap or something... remember Somalia hasn't had a government since '91 - it is basically if you are friend to the warlords you get what you need. Mind you the Islamists and the "transitional government" that pretends it runs the country are fighting to control the land.

Think! Who's going to go follow the LoJack to Mogadishu and get the ship back? The California Highway Patrol? OF COURSE they'll get away with it. Pirates exist in places where there either is no government (Somalia) or the government is corrupt (Indonesia/Malaysia/parts of China). The pirates count on the ship's owners just coughing up millions of bucks to buy the ship (and crew) back.
