I am a long-time, loyal GM customer - but the writing is on the wall. Unhappy and bitter employees produce problem vehicles.
What? Now that it is more like a Toyota (defective) the writing is on the wall? I hope GM is not counting too much on the Traverse in this day and age. Steer people towards the Outlook, Acadia and Enclave.

Re: UAW Strikes JCI Plant Supplying Traverse Parts

I hate this happened in Columbia, TN, just as news arrived yesterday we are getting the Volkswagen plant here in Chattanooga, TN.

And you are absolutely right about quality. I'm glad I leased my Aura and can turn it in after 3 years. There are so many quality issues with basic fit and finish. I hate to think what this puppy's drivetrain is going to be like with some good miles on it. The platform above the back seats at the base of the window doesn't line up at the driver's side c-pillar leaving a big gap. The pieces at the side of the dash that are visible when the door is open are all warped and ill-aligned. There is something loose in the dome light causing all kinds of noise that the dealership just can't seem to duplicate....32 months to go.

Not if they decide to replace the UAW slugs with hard working Mexican workers down in Mexico. The UAW didn't just bite off the hand that fed them, they ripped it clean off!

You are absolutely correct. What most people forget to remember is that publicly traded companies have a moral obligation to make money for the stockholders not cater to their employees' every whim. Seeing how the UAW and CAW seem to cost the big three more money then they are worth sometimes, I'm surprised they haven't pulled out completely. But, then again, Michigan does have one of the worst economies in the nation with an incredibly high unemployment rate. Are the unions so ignorant to basic business sense they would rather find themselves unable to afford a pot to piss in rather than have a job that pays a decent wage for an honest day's work?

Re: UAW Strikes JCI Plant Supplying Traverse Parts

So they are striking because they are a newly formed Union?

It sounds like a coming out party...

JCI needs to lock all but 2 workers out. Doesn't matter....those big SUVs are not going to be selling very well pretty soon- but then the UAW will probably strike because sales are slow.

Headlines will read "UAW declares war on General Motors".

I hear it's going to be hot tomorrow. The UAW is planning a strike to protest the weather. True story.

Wrong Clownzilla you don't know crap and you need to shut up for once.

They make seats, Seats are delivered on time in sequenced order. They have to be delivered within 2 hours of being ordered. Once the body has been painted and OK'ed then the seat is ordered and then put on the truck in the correct sequence.

You fail at knowing the Industry.

And again GM will probably side with the Union because Johnson Controls are breaking the Law.

If they are breaking the law, then how come the courts haven't intervened? Sorry, I doubt you know enough about the situation to make that determination.

I heard that a UAW member tripped on a rug, and they're striking because of "unsafe working conditions."

They do, too bad you don't research before you reply like most here do. All plants in Japan , Germany and France are unionized. The Kia/Hyundai plants in South Korea are unionized. I think(didn't research this one yet ) that there are 2 toyota plants outside of Japan that are unionized: the Nummi plant and a plant in Australlia. There are probably more..............

I have no patience for poorly put together cars, and the G6 started falling apart about 9 months into ownership.

I work 60+ hour weeks with no overtime. I earn my 6-figure salary unlike most union members."

Korea does have Unions, That is the real reason why Hyundai is moving up market. The Unions have been striking and wanting higher pay and safer conditions. When GM bought Daewoo they slashed the workforce, implimeted effeciency, safety, and started to pay more. Hyundai unions want the same.

I'm not entirely sure, but my understanding of union organizing is that signing a "union card" means you are saying you support a VOTE on whether or not to unionize. Not that you are already voting FOR the union.

Yup, if you read the stories from the early 20th century, thats why unions existed - it was appropriate then. Now, its simply killing GM one small nick at a time.
