GM lost 285,000 units to American Axle Strike

http://www.autoblog.com/2008/05/21/g...n-axle-strike/

Quote:
Each week the strike has dragged out, GM has lost significant production (29,925 vehicles were lost in the week ending April 26 alone). If GM cannot boost additional manufacturing output, by the end of this week the total number of lost units could be as high as 285,503. Even if the American Axle strike is settled, the UAW is still striking at GM's Fairfax assembly plant over the role of seniority in job placement. That labor dispute alone is costing the company 4,627 units each week.

I love how GM Wentzvilles isn't reported. I know we make boring old vans but come on. We have customers waiting for vans.

lost 285k. yea. GM had over 6 months of inventory before the strike and they still have 4 months. GM will use this strike as an excuse when they have another profit loss.

It's difficult to get good numbers from the Big 3 - Depending on the spin, they seem to have a set of books for everybody.......

I work for a parts supplier. We supply engine parts for the trucks among other things, so we have a decent handle on what they have and what they need. The public numbers were pretty good and they were not 6 months. And they are not 4 months now. But they are still far too high, I will admit that.

We still have plenty on our lot that aren't moving.

GM needs to build more Malibus and revise the interior of the Cobalt and sell more of those. Truck sales are not coming back. Smaller cars are going to be king.

Gee whiz! are you an industry analyst? Where are you getting your insider information on market trends?

....seriously though, hearing these redundancies all the time is old, tiring and redundant

That's not an answer and I want your source as well, because information I was given contradicts your "source."

And you're not even close with bealive
