Ford Chairman: UAW/GM Framework Something We Can Worth With

Quote:
CHICAGO -(Dow Jones)- Ford Motor Co. (F) executive chairman Bill Ford Jr. said Wednesday the auto maker is "very prepared to get going" in its talks with the United Auto Workers union on a new four-year contract.

Speaking following a ceremony to commemorate the launch of a national network of community-based high schools, a project supported by Ford, the executive said that the broad framework of the deal worked out between the UAW and General Motors Corp. (GM) last week "is certainly something we can work with."

good to hear - the assumption is that Ford will want a different 2tier/buyouyt structure as its workforce is younger ... it will probably replace that piece with demand for more flexible work rules and deeper integration with suppliers - see Ford's Camacari plant.

Ford I think will tinker with the GM agreement so it works for them.

Chrysler is another story, they don't particularly want a VEBA.
