Wagoner: GM To Release 16 New Hybrid's Over The Next 4 Years

GM will release a new hybrid every 3 months for the next 4 years

Quote:
Here is exactly what Rick says in the video about hybrids;

We will have one new hybrid coming out every quarter for next four years. We've got four on the market right now. We are getting in the game with a range of technologies.
How can they come out with 16 hybrids and not start including the HF 3.6 V-6? Could we see 2 mode Lambdas and CTSs?

There's something about the interviewer I don't like, but I can't peg it. Ray from Jalopnik is cool, but the news desk interviewer guy rakes my nerves.

I'd really like to find the full Wagoner interview, rather than the 2 second clip shown.

I hope this doesn't blow up in his face......like Billy Ford's pledge to put_______hybrids on the road by such and such a date........

Isn't that a little much? He probably means that the oultlook will get it, then the acadia, then the enclave. But is there really a market for it? Especially with clean diesels coming in the next two years.

Re: Wagoner: GM to release new hybrid every 3 months for next 4 years

16 total and he's probably counting the ones coming out right now (Tahoe, Yukon, Malibu, Aura).

12 more
1. Escalade
2. Vue 2-mode (versus greenline BAS)
3. Vue 2-mode plug in
4. Silverado
5. Sierra
6. Outlook?
7. Acadia?
8. Enclave?
9. Chevrolet Lambda?
10. Suburban?
11. Yukon XL?
12. Escalade ESV?
13. RWD Impala?

Not to easy to see this happening since they all come in pairs, triplets, or quadruplets and many of them will use the same system. I can't believe the Suburban 2-mode will be much different than a Silverado or Tahoe system other than software and battery location.

This is whats wrong with GM.

How about some two-mode hybrid sedans?!!! That should be the priority.

I agree 100%. Having some hybrid SUVs and CUVs is fine, but I don't see them being huge sellers or green image builders. You need a full hybrid colbalt and malibu. We need these in the next few years (1 or 2), not in 4 after the volt comes out.

Let us not forget that GM is an international corporation now. How many of these will be released in other countries? Considering that, it is not such an unrealistic goal.

Re: Wagoner: GM to release new hybrid every 3 months for next 4 years

Two mode will go into the VUE, Escalade, Sierra, and Silverado within the next 12 months.

The Plug-in Two Mode should come out within 24 months. Lambda, Impala (RWD next gen) and Cadillac will also get versions.

BAS+ should be releasing soon to other platforms.

I don't know if they can package the Two-Mode to fit in a mid-size sedan. Large RWD cars yes, but FWD sedans, don't think so.

Do you actually know this, or are you just guessing? Has there been any real information on how far a plug-in two mode Lambda or Impala on just electricity?

Lambda's and RWD Zeta Chevy are facts, at least according to what Chrysler has been able to get (aka steal) from GM.

I mean the plug-in part. I haven't heard any news of a plug-in Lambda. And news changes daily on if the next Impala will even be RWD. I would surprise me if they already made the decision on it being a two mode plug-in.

Plug-in is confrimed for launch in VUE, and it will spread to all other two modes.
