Re: GM set to buy Hybrid Battery supplier

Sounds like GM is serious about getting the Volt to market by 2010. I will be ready for a new car by 2011, so if the Volt lives up to the hype, I will definitely buy one.

Re: GM set to buy Hybrid Battery supplier

There is something called a competitive advantage. If GM owns its destiny, they don't have to pay through the nose prices if the demand from other automakers goes through the roof. They get to pay cost. When something becomes a commodity, that's when you don't want to be making it. Things like sparkplugs, air cleaners, etc. Those are a dime a dozen and have several companies making them cheap. At one point in time, I'm sure they needed to be vertical as well. At some point batteries might be in the same boat.
