Here in southern Missouri stations are selling E85 for around $2.95 also. Regular unleaded is around $3.80. Regardless of the less MPG for E85, the price gap is getting wide enough to where it's starting to make more sense. Once the E85 infrastructure is solid, then the price gap will become even wider. My next car (and my wife's car) will absolutely be E85 capable. Besides, I actually personally know farmers who sell corn. I would rather give him money than some American hating oil sheik

Over the years I've found a few mythical beasts in ordering guides that either did not ever come to be, or that my local dealers denied any knowledge of, even after "calling folks in Detroit".

Like the 4-cylinder "fleet only" Malibu Maxx. The guide was pasted in a thread here some years back.

I might well have have opted for that car over my current car.

Or the Uplander cargo van (with seats in the second row). I think this one was just an example of my local dealer "playing dumb" and not wanting one on the lot when they had hundreds of SUVs to sell.

I thought the Cobalt was originally slated to get Flex-fuel for MY2009 also?

MEDIOCRITY: It takes a lot less time, and most people won't notice the difference until it's too late.

More cars need to be flex-fuel. Is it really that hard to make a vehicle flex fuel?

Exactly. Saab has an entire BioPower range everyone else...and nothing here.

Bummer. I was hoping to see Malibu and Cobalt on that list...

I would have loved to have FF on my Malibu Maxx, but no luck...

Re: GM offering 18 flex fuel vehicles for MY 2009

Why on earth are the Lambda vehicles not being offered E85 capable? Same deal with the Malibu, G8, CTS, STS, Saab lineup, etc. WTF?!?! Supposedly, it's only about $100 extra to make the engine E85 capable. Given the green hype in the marketplace, I would think GM would be rushing to offer EVERY vehicle flexfuel capable. That way they could lay the blame on gas stations for not offering the fuel even though GM is offering the vehicles.

there is one in fairport NY that i saw on the news. at the time, they had the price at 2.99/gal. they do need more stations however.

Really?? Here in Toledo Ohio there are E85 at most of the main stations...

But I think E85 is over rated... I like the "Green Crude" idea MUCH better... check it out at link if you dont knwo what it is - http://www.greencrudeproduction.com/

More pitiful in Canada, there still only 3 E85 stations, all in Ontario.

Edit: any lists of 2009 Flex-fuel vehicules at Ford and Chrysler? (I wish to see the Hemi allowed to use E85)

Re: GM offering 18 flex fuel vehicles for MY 2009

Glad to see the offerings expanding. Unfortunately, apart from the HHR, none of these models is under current consideration in my household.
My grandson gets a new G5 tonight. Silver.
Im ready to pounce when E-85 is an option on all the Ecotecs.
Cheers,
Ed Arcuri

There are 1,600 E85 stations in the U.S. The number is growing all the time.

Ohhh, FF Hemi! Sweet

I haven't looked at a Ford on the lots for a long time now, but I know the V6 minivans, Sebring/Avenger, and some pickup V6 & V8 trucks are flex fuel.

One thing I would like to see GM produce is an AWD FF Malibu, like the Avenger AWD R/T model. That's a sweet little ride.
