All this sounds like the good steam for Tucker, hopefully it lasts for Fisker.

If it is a LOAN....great! I hope I live to see electric cars become the norm.....AND to see the "loans" to Wall Street, GM and the rest PAID BACK. Nice to see my country spending debt for industry and technological advancement vs. wars of choice for oil and profit for a change. But I hope that good old fashioned entreprenurial innovation and personal creativity lead America to the forefront of alternatives to the ICE car, especially electric car breakthroughs. When I was a teen we could have never imagined CDs and Blackberries and DVDs and PCs....who knows what some brillant car designer will devise over the next few years?!

I have no idea how they'll ever pay that loan back. Nearly a half billion! Woah.

And when their "affordable" plug in comes, it'll be about $7 - 8k more than the presumed price for the Volt? How is that affordable and why would anyone buy the Fisker Nina over the Volt.

I now await at least this much going to Tesla, who at least are delivering electric cars at the moment. Has Fisker delivered even one, yet?

Damn...I didnt think you were that old...lol...j/k

It could take Fisker nearly a century to pay back that loan and still keep cash flows in check.

Maybe the same way GM is going to... with a big smile and by selling stock to a bunch of suckers... the same suckers who paid for the loans in the first place.

Assuming what? The price is what they quoted: $39,900 with the credits. That's more than the Volt.

Thus, the Volt will be about $7k less than the Nina when you factor in the credits.

I see it as applicable. GM should now be in line for these types of loans as well. Plus, this is the car that the Volt will compete with. Thus, very applicable.

Are any of these loans fully structured, with an interest rate and a time line for repayment, like any of us would face with a mortgage or unsecured debt? Sometimes all these "loans" seem quite nebulous to me, and I am just wondering about accountabilty for all that debt.

Well since the government is funding them, it's akin to GM news....

So is Fisker taking Pontiac's place in the stable?

Since they're getting money from the government, Fisker and GM are practically subsidiaries of the same company, Taxpayers, Inc.

What, this isn't a bailout??

I've got no problem with the government helping out with advanced technologies. If they didn't we probably wouldn't have this here Interweb to play with...

Fisker's cars are cool lookin', plus they use GM 2.0L engines.
