If every zeta, SUV and V8 car had a hybrid added on as standard equipment they would be fine. But at $4 a gallon, everyone is going to look hybrid, and 80% of GM's lineup will be unwanted.

Re: $4.00 Gas A Reality

High gas prices won't bother me until I see every Hummer in a junkyard or up on blocks. I'm all about people having choice, but tired of so many people CHOOSING to buy gas-guzzling SUVs and then spending all the time complaining about how they can't buy 6 martinis at happy hour because of high gas prices. Even worse, I've seen people who don't have a pot to piss in spending $400-500 a month on a SUV because of God-knows-why.

Re: $4.00 Gas A Reality

I go to Orlando all the time and rent cars; that gas station is the only one within a 1/2 mile of the airport; I pulled in once and saw they were charging a buck over market and after collecting my eyes after they fell out and drove another 1/3 of a mile north and bought it for the going price. I saw that National Car was charging $6 a gallon to refill if you did not take the fuel option and returned it less than full. If all that money going to Iraq and other wasteful ventures would have gone to alternative fuels and research for the last 30 years,we could have told the middle east to shove it their ass and go find another sucker

Re: $4.00 Gas A Reality

if you have watched/read what I have, 2 yrs ago they (fox/cnn economical expert guests, etc.) say that the Gas prices will rise and rise and rise until the demand is shown to have dropped.. significantly... so until we stop taking leisure drives, idling away in traffic and car-pooling, public transportation etc. the price will continue to rise, which in turn will change what we drive and force the veh mfrs to develop more efficient/alt fuel vehicles. I know this is true, you know it's true, we just hate to be told "what to do" so we fight it. I myslef am guilty of buying gas-guzzler vehicles, I have no excuse except I am spoiled, whe I go away with my wife/kids I like to be in a big vehicle, heck when I go and get milk at the store I like my big SUV. I can afford to pay whatever it is because I have a take-home car and my job allows me to use it for personal use as well, so in reality my 2 large gas guzzling vehicles get filled maybe once a month.. if I was still commuting 54mi each way on my own dime I would be riding a bus.. God Help us all, we're screwed..

sorry, wrong in only that refineries are not the answer, was out in wyoming in september and when the prices were down in the rest of the country at that time, theywere still high in those few western states due to it still being the tourist season. sorry for the confusion

Drilling in Alaska by itself would not significantly change the equation. By the time the ANWAR fields were up and running, US demand would have outstripped any extra supply that field would provide. The simple answer is conservation. With conservation we don't have to worry about drilling in ANWAR. GM should just make the dual mode hybrid an option on every GMT-900 and Lambda they sell.

Approx. $2.58 for Regular Gas here.

I've been seeing a # of new Tahoe's and Silverado's lately myself.

Actually, if my partner gets the job he should be getting within the next year we're going to look into leasing a brand new Tahoe (or possibly a new Silverado) ourselves. Though we're not against a hybrid version.

Just because you try to constrict demand doesn't mean you don't need supply.

The only way you lower oil prices is by reducing demand AND increasing supply.

Anyone who says you can control the market from one side hasn't passed basic economics. Since controlling one and not the other only acts as a way to cause prices to bottom out or inflate (depending on what you do to one or the other).

Since Demand will increase, although slower with conservation, Supply MUST also increase. If you want to keep oil cheap, you have to increase supply FASTER than demand.

The only way to do this is to get as many people to conserve as much oil as possible AND to drill the **** out of everywhere.

I REALLY HATE how idiots try to take sides in this, you can't take a side. You have to realize that both sides are right and BOTH conservation AND exploration need to take place.

Of course most of you are political pugnates who honestly don't care about oil prices, just your agenda on world order.

Re: $4.00 Gas A Reality

That $4.00 gas in Orlando is somewhat understandable though. First of all, it's close to the airport, which raises the gas prices between $.20-.50 for each gallon. Also, Orlando gas isn't considered the cheapest in the nation. But then again, it is STILL pretty expensive.

Re: $4.00 Gas A Reality

gas prices are just like pro athletes way overpriced. And the people that can control it dont give two sh*ts about it!! There is absolutly no reason for it to get over 3/gallon unless there is another mass of hurricanes. You cant tell me that the demand for gas has gone up that much to warrant stations to be charging 4/gallon it is ridiculous. That is just jerkoff owners that know you have no choice around an airport because of rentals. The government doesnt give a crap. Especially with king ding-a-ling (Bush) getting rich off it. With the price for imported oil going up, that makes his stock in home refined oil go up for the future demand when we have to use our oil. Thats why they will never push ethonal or any other source in my opinion.
