Re: Versa, Sentra Drive 8.5% Nissan U.S. Sales Increase For July; Suzuki Up 2% on SX4
GM should offer the same equipment thats on the SX4 on the Astra.

The XL-7 is just a reskinned Equinox isn't it? The Equinox is the XL-7's equal.

I am super surprised by all the love for the SX-4. It is very weird looking to me, particularly around the drivers window area.
However I agree the Sentra and Versa aren't great either. Imagine how migh Nissan sales would be if those were great cars.

It's no Camaro, but it isn't ugly either. It's all Suzuki gives you for a sub $20k car that I find impressive. What other car in this class gives you all this for such a low price?

Only the high-end Equinox Sport has the 3.6L, IIRC.

The 3.6 get's lower mpg though. So offering it only on the Sport and not the 'common' model most people buy is a good thing imo. So many people look at mpg #'s that I don't see offering the engine with lower #'s standard as something I'd consider 'better' than the Equinox. Don't get me wrong, I think the XL-7 is a nice looking vehicle though.

As I just posted another topic, due to market demands and praise they recieved for adding navagation standard to the SX4 for MY 2009 Suzuki decided to speed it up and bring it to 2008 MY cars as a "Special Edition" option Link is here Also if you noticed, due to North American Market Blunders and the fact Suzuki never reached its 200,000 vehicle goal by 2007 Suzuki has been doing some re-shuffling. Re: Versa, Sentra Drive 8.5% Nissan U.S. Sales Increase For July; Suzuki Up 2% on SX4
I have not heard any solid information about the Swift coming to the U.S.
Suzuki even seems to be playing down a Swift introduction with talk like this as of just a month ago: Quote:
By making a sedan version of the existing SX4 avilable for the U.S. market, American Suzuki no doubt saved some money over what they would have needed to support an all new Swift model available here. They were already "halfway there" with an SX4 hatch 4WD. All that said, unless the Swift comes here as-is with a European-style efficient engine, it won't sip gas. In other words, if they bump the engine size up it will be fine as a road rally racer, but don't expect a Swift altered for American tastes to be all that awesome at the pump. It should be noted that the base engine in the SX4 overseas is an 1.5L gasoline unit identical to the one used in the Swift. But if they can't get the acceleration they need out of the 1.5L in a car the size of the SX4, what we'd need for real gas savings would be a smaller, lighter car more like the Splash/new Agila. ![]()
