The Avi is an excellent vehicle, but apparently there are still issues with the black plastic pieces fading. Will hear about warranty replacement tomorrow.

I have be considering either painting or replacing it all with the pieces off an EXT as I have decided I prefer it body color. Will see what happens.

Re: Trucks are big again, and other Oct. 2009 sales news -- w/top-20 sellers list

interesting convo we got going on here. its always the same though. people who dont drive or would never own a truck demeaning those who do or want a truck. and the truck owners always having to defend their purchase. every time. so, i may as well chime in:

the appeal of trucks is that they can do anything you ask of them. i can do things with my truck that a car could never ever do, and i can do 95% of what a car can- and the only thing that really is is go very fast (but i can make it do that to).

the only downfall of a truck is the gas mileage, and that really isnt an issue and is real easy to work around (not that i care too much, just look at mine)- just change your habits a little bit. for example when i bought my house i refused to live far away from work, which means i use between 1-1.5 gallons of gas round trip on my daily commute depending on my mood. also condense trips. problem solved.

theres also the "gotta get off the foreign oil national security issue." ha. what a crock. perfect example is my commute. i use less gas than what, 90% of the country? but i drive a truck (and heaven forbid i drive alone in it), so im a bad person. i know im not the only one. also, all of gm's trucks have a flex-fuel option, so if there was ethanol around these parts (i think there is one station in massachusetts in all of new england) that would also throw that argument out the window.

theres a safety argument. truck owners endanger all the car drivers around them. well, my answer to that is dont drive like an idiot and you wont crash in the first place. i cant believe the amount of people who drive stupid not only around pickup trucks but even tractor trailers. i lose count of how many people cut off, drive in blind spots, etc. people dont understand that trucks are not the same as cars.

theres even an argument that trucks ruin the roads quicker. although that may be true to an extent, the fact that truck owners pay more in gas taxes (generally), pay more to register their vehicle, pay more to insure their vehicle, pay more at tolls, and pay more in general to purchase own drive and maintain their vehicle, more than makes up for that.

the point is, there are many arguments that do not hold water against truck owners. and these same arguments can be turned around on car owners (for example, do you really need that four seater for your lonely commute to work every morning? same argument) as well. simply put people need to get over the fact that people want and strive for these vehicles. they are great vehicles.

oh, and i love how people say dont complain about owning a truck. its funny because truck owners never complain, they know what theyre getting themselves into- everyone else does all the complaining for them.

i'll add as i think of more....

plus its awesome when you go out to the bars- its the perfect excuse not to drive).

i have a suggestion for you. why not coat the black plastic (since im not sure what year, i assume you mean the cladding or fenders?) with line-x spray on bedliner? ive seen this done before and i actually plan on doing this myself on the bottom foot or so of the sides of my truck, right below the door strip guards.
