Toyota U.S. sales up 6.1 percent in June; Camry, Prius, Tundra Boost Sales

http://www.reuters.com/article/topNe...0070703?rpc=44
DETROIT, July 3 (Reuters) - Toyota Motor Corp (7203.T: Quote, Profile, Research) on Tuesday said its U.S. sales rose 6.1 percent in June as incentives helped boost sales of its Tundra pickup truck.

The Japanese automaker, which has overtaken General Motors Corp (GM.N: Quote, Profile, Research) as the world's largest, sold 245,739 vehicles in the United States in June.

The automaker said car sales rose 5 percent, driven by big increases in sales of its Camry sedan and the Prius hybrid vehicle. Truck sales rose 7.8 percent, boosted by a big increase in sales of the new Tundra pickup.

The results include both Toyota and Lexus brands, and were adjusted for an extra selling day in June 2007.

I don't understand why the Yaris is outselling the Fit by so much (9153 vs 5613). I think it's a piece of junk compared to the Fit, and the mag reviewers seem to agree.

I think supply is the issue here. The FIT is the exact model that sells in Europe. The Yaris we get are not sold in Europe. They get a 4 door hatch. I also think having 2 different models helps. Probably why the Aveo sells well.

The Tundra's engines are dying within a month or two or ownership, yet they double sales; are consumers that damn stupid?

Toyota engine problem with new Tundra - May. 29, 2007

Tundra 40% mexican components

What do you expect when everywhere you look there is a Toyota ad? You can't turn on the tv, open a magazine or newspaper without seeing Toyota. Maybe GM should try this.

Part of the problem why some can't figure out why it succeeds is that some see the surface and don't investigate in any depth.

Hint: if you believe both of these links then you'll always be at a disadvantage in the real world. One is untrue and the other concerns all of 20 units out of 75,000 sold.

Which one is untrue? So if it is untrue, then girl that in the cube next to you is right because she heard they last forever. Autonews.com is not untrue, it is an unbiased news source; probably the best news source out there.

Those 10K engines should be built to last 300,000 miles, not 3,000 miles; that is just poor testing and probably an inferior product.

The scariest part is that Toyota stole a lot of Silverado buyers since Fseries sales are flat this month
