well what can you expect remember having a 4 year old truck is not easy while every body has new ones, but this happens every generation, back when GM introduced the GMT 800 they closed the gap but when Ford introduced the new one well the rest is history

Remember that its mediocrity will catch up to it at some point. Let's hope for Ford's sake an updated Edge debuts before sales fall off the deep end.

It's going to have to do much better than that in order to be #2, highly unlikely that will happen this year.

Retail sales are about the same, so they have finally stopped the market share bleeding. Now things can really only go up.

Sounds like you did not take the time to read before you rant.

Wait a minute, why are you comparing the two? The MKX is a massive success for Lincoln! And this is not even an Enclave-like CUV. I am an extremely happy MKX owner. I have ZERO interest in the Enclave, I think its the ugliest of the GM Lambdas.

I will say that Ford has clinched the Midsize (5-seater) CUV while GM has clinched the Full-size (7-passenger). There is no way Ford will compete with the Flex, it's far too polarizing. Perhaps the Lincoln version will make up for it.

Re: October Sales: Ford Motor Company - Down 10%

After reading the Ford-supplied info on the link, I really believe that things are turning for them, and not just Ford fluff. It is all good news really. Having reduced fleet sales numbers by 38% (142,000 units ytd) is totally planned, so that is the only bad. ALthough their new product introductions are few, they all seem to be hitting on all cylinders - compared to say Chrysler, which is axing their newer products. I think within 6 months there will be no more discussions about Ford being in bad shape, and in fact will be well on it's way to it's goals.

I like the Enclave, but I love the MKX. How is the Enclave better?

And 400 - 500 units difference is not really "whopping" it.
You are comparing a mainstream to luxury. That's like comparing the Edge to the SRX. Now that would be whopping.

First off Lincoln should not be sharing anything with Ford or Mercury!! When will Ford learn?!? You think they would of from what Cadillac has been doing. You don't see a Caddy crossover like the Eclave/Acadia/Outlook. They need to have product distinct to them. The MKX is nice, but its just an over priced Ford Edge. The MKZ is just a Lincoln version of the Mazda6/Fusion/Milan. The Town Car is the same as the Crown Vic/Grand Marquis. Lincoln needs an overhaul badly. Hopefully the MKS will be better, but it is still based off the Volvo S80 platform which is also the Taurus/Sable. Lincoln needs some better designers to establish Lincoln as the great American luxury car that it once was otherwse it will die because the younger generations will go to caddy, bmw, audi, etc rather than just an upmarket Ford brand.

Are you really saying that the buick is just 'mainstream' and the the lincoln is really "luxury?" I wont tell you what exactly what they are. But i will tell you what they are not, and they are not on different levels on anything except seating.

What are you talking about? Cadillac's main sellers are shared platforms.
Also, notice how well Lincoln is doing - even before they get their new products out like the MKS and that new people mover.

The lines have blurred it seems, but Lincoln is a luxury brand. Buick is less so. That's all.
