Quote:
RECORD SALES FOR NEW CROSSOVER VEHICLES FUEL SOLID RETAIL SALES MONTH FOR FORD

  • All-new Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX crossovers combined to achieve their highest monthly sales ever.
  • Redesigned Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner crossovers posted double-digit increases compared with year ago.
  • Overall, sales of Ford, Lincoln and Mercury crossovers were up 145 percent.
  • Lincoln’s winning streak continues with sales increase of 17 percent, marking the 13th straight month of higher sales, with more good news on the way.
  • Land Rover dealers report record October sales.
  • Ford, Lincoln and Mercury retail sales nearly matched year ago; total company sales were 195,462, down 10 percent, primarily reflecting planned reduction in daily rental sales.
  • Ford updates second half North American production.

Re: October Sales: Ford Motor Company - Down 10%

Edge is now officially the 2nd best selling Ford after the F-series - it outsold the Escape, Fusion, Focus, and Econoline

The Taurus / Sable stemmed their decline - Taurus alone sold 5k, but is still somewhat down from a year ago; but Sable is up with 1,656 sales, as is the Taurus X with almost 4k units. Combined sales of the Taurus and Taurus X (and the reaming Freestyle and Five Hundred) are almost 10k.

total unit decline is 21k units - 12k of that is reduction to daily rental fleets. the other 9k is decline os things Ford does not want to decline: Commercial/Government Fleet and Retail. Ford did not provide further bearkdown.

Did I read somewhere that it was set for an April production start?

yes you did read that and it is correct. the TwinForce might be a delayed option for the first three months though ... unfortunately.

That would be unfortunate. The Twin Force sounds like such a great engine, and a watershed for Ford. Perhaps they look at the situation as a double marketing opportunity. Sell the newness first, then follow up with a whiz-bang motor. The original 2003 CTS had a mildly upgraded version of the old Catera V6 in it's first year and it was still successful.

Ok, but the [fleet only] Crown Victoria sold better than the Taurus, and the Grand Marquis sold better than the Sable.

And the Enclave whooped the MKX.

Ford's doing alright. Lincoln is obviously suffering from not having the Town Car in production.

the Enclave has been whopping the MKX - and deservedly so - it is a better crossover.

Edge also edged out the Toyota Highlander by about 3000 YTD. Escape is barely (139,911) behind RAV4 (146,582). Good work, Ford!

Well, since the CV is fleet only, it's just a matter of how many agencies order in a given month.

I also have a suspicion that the rise in Grand Marquis sales might have something to do with the lack of retail Crown Vics.

Lincoln does appear to be doing extraordinarily well, when you factor out the temporary Town Car production shutdown. From what I've read, Lincoln will starting getting Town Cars again in the early part of next year, but the focus of production will be on limousine and service sales, with retail sales being refocused onto the MKS.

Re: October Sales: Ford Motor Company - Down 10%

Can you believe the Silverado and F-Series are about 60000 vehicles apart for the year so far? I am not saying the Silverado will pass the F-Series, but it is surprising nonetheless that the gap could be this narrow.

After watching the numbers it looks like the marketing push Mercury received the last month has helped the brand, everything is up on Mercury even the Grand Marquis
