Try again, the number of registrations is not posted in real-time, they are usually delayed by a few days/weeks.

That makes sense. I always wondered how they did those calculations. Good for Ford that market share continues to climb. In general for GM fans much of our lives we have looked at Ford as the enemy but in this day and age it is better to chear on any domestic that is doing well and hope GM can come out with some good numbers as well. I think that with all the big ups and downs over the last couple of years it has been difficult to compare year over year results and make much sense of it. Market share gains and losses are what really matter if you want to have a sales competition mean anything.

I'll try again and direct you to read wescoent's post.

And remember the month of October ended 3 days ago.

Fp, you are wrong. Just admit you are wrong (as usual) and move on.

For goodness sake............... this is just like your constant insistance that Ford has lost retail marketshare for the last few months, while GM has gained. YOU ARE WRONG.

Don't feel bad.................. we are all wrong, sometimes.

Re: October 2009 Ford Sales: Up 3%

So it turns out these numbers may have NOT been reported correctly.

Percent changes are based on the daily sales rate, and
reflect 28 selling days this month vs. 27 in the month last
year, and 257 this year to date vs. 257 last year to date
So sales are actually down 0.9%. Go figure.

Fp.................... Ford doesn't care. Their marketshare is up, and their profits are up. This is what matters.

I see you have conceeded your defeat on the marketshare issue. In typical fashion, you do so by ignoring it.

Most companies report the DSR figure.

Um what? You've added nothing to the argument and so far no one has been able to post a reasonable explanation to prove Ford's stance on the market share. Incidentally, numbers are starting to come out showing that Ford's piece was just a fluff.

You seem at least adventurous in your prediction as you accuse Ford of being. How can you know Ford's piece is just a fluff after a report or two? Do you also exchange press releases and figures with the automakers or do you have US new cars registration figures for October?

Your hatred for Ford is disconcerting but amusing nonetheless, kiddo.

No. We are talking about Ford's market share gain announced by George Pipas, Ford's sales annalist. Which fp115 is questioning based solely in his skepticism. Igor mentioned that this was the real important figure. everyone seem to agree.

I wonder why no one s talking about the fact that Ford increased its sales 21% respect last month. that is quite the jump.

That was the entire Lincoln brand that is apparently doing "extremely" well according to Simon.

Also Cadillac sold: 11,602 vehicles. Almost as much as Lincoln and Mercury combined.
