If you're going to do that, then you'd have to also combine Avenger sales with Sebring sales.

Light duty vehicle sales in the US dropped 18.2% by volume in June 2008 compared to June 2007, to a total of 1,185,435 units, according to data from Ward’s Auto. < Unadjusted >

On an adjusted day sales rate (DSR) basis, the drop was 2.3%—June 2008 had three less selling days than June 2007.

For the first six months of the year, the decrease in sales by volume was 10.1% for all light duty vehicles compared to the same period in 2007.

Passenger car sales saw an 8% decrease by volume in June year-on year, with an increase of 3.5% on a DSR basis.

Light truck sales dropped 28.5% by volume in June year-on-year, with a decrease of 19.5% on a DSR basis.

For the first six months of 2008, car sales dropped 1.6% by volume, while truck sales have dropped 18%.

Sales of cars have exceeded trucks for four months running now, with cars taking 56% of the market in June 2008.

So, Toyota's June 2008 results are actually much worse and are much more significant than they initially appear.

Does anyone recall the last time Toyota performed below the industry averages ?

This maybe one of their all time worst performances since introducing Lexus - maybe further back than that.

I think you're going to see this develop as a trend. Previosly fleets had bought on price and if it was cheap thats what they bought, Now I look for fleets to follow the retail world and start worrying about fuel economy. This will really hurt Chrsyler snice the LX cars aren't competitive with any of the other large cars, Sebring/Avenger should do OK in fleet sales, but thats about it.

yep, my buddy is a perfect example- he was looking at a TL but decided on an accord- it was thousands less for basically the same car (both were used)

as long as its not fleet, im glad to see gm doing not that bad, relatively. they could do better though.
