Ummmm, have you ever heard of long-term reliability, which the Impala doesn't have? Or resale value, which the Impala doesn't have? Or features for the dollar, which the Impala doesn't have? Impala is probably 60% fleet sales, anyway.

Now we can see that my prediction about the Sonata is proving true, and probably one good reason why Malibu sales have slipped off and Fusion sales are as low as they are (why all the fuss that the Fusion is selling well? 10K per month is nothing to spout off about). It's called value. In this case, higher resale, more features, lower price, and better warranty. I see so many around here, I'll be tired of it pretty soon. '07 Camrys already everywhere too.

I don't know who's buying Lucernes either, because I've seen one, ever. Midwest at it again.

I think the Azera was an oversight on this chart. They definately were for sale in March - I've seen 4 on the roads.

Re: March U.S. Car Sales By Model

That is so not true about 60% fleet; GM is cutting back on that, and the Impala is selling for higher prices then ever before. It has VERY good reliability also. You've been against the Impala since Day 1, wpb.

Re: March U.S. Car Sales By Model

I like being able to see all the car sales, anyone know if they have SUV and truck ones too?
It's nice being able to see how many cars are being sold, and GM beating Toyota in small cars

Pretty much all of them have better fuel-economy, which is the #1 selling factor in this class, and I bet all of them are capable of getting better crash ratings than a Poor.

Century 12
LaCrosse 5,764
Impala 24,071
Monte Carlo 2,667
Grand Prix 6,501

W body total: 39,015

TL 6,767
Accord 29,623

Honda Total: 36,390

Altima 23,790
Maxima 6,376

Nissan Total: 30,496

ES 300 (I) 4,231
Avalon 8,697
Camry (w/ Solara) 38,981 (wow!!!)

Toyota Total: 51,909

the camry alone sold as many as their main competitors' whole larger family/FWD entry-lux car platforms did. that's simply amazing, and the solara hasn't even joined the updated platform yet, and neither has the ES IIRC. nice to see that the W-bodies do compare well when all put together (even though they have like 30% fleet sales while none of the japanese makes are above 15%). and for all those who say Impala+MC=Camry+Solara... ummm...nope (it's not even enough to catch up with the Accord). and they're both pretty much brand new redesigns, so that's about as fair as you're gonna get.

Well, whatever else he said, the resale value alone is still a killer for most of GM's car lineup, particularly Chevy and Buick. http://www.alg.com/deprratings.aspx

Thank you! You're certainly doing your part; and buying a very competitive vehicle.

How the hell do you know it's competitive? No one's driven one yet. Besides, they kept the same engines, so we know it's uncompetitive economy-wise, which is kind of important in an economy car.

Re: March U.S. Car Sales By Model

Pontiac desperately needs to abandon the Bonneville/Grand Prix and come out with a Zeta G8. Optional FWD for the G8 with V-6 or I-6 could make it a strong product for most tastes.

Buick is on the way back. The Enclave will help it's luster. But a Zeta GNX will help complete that brand.

A Chevy Stingray Kappa-roadster could help Chevy's luster. Combine that with a Zeta "heritage" inspired Impala.

Initially I thought Buick needed the Velite, but Buick now has some strong products, Velite not withstanding. Give that to Chevy.
