Interesting that the entry lux is taking as big a hit as fullsize trucks/SUVs.

Acura is below Cadillac for the month and YTD.

The Fit and Accord were the biggest reason for the gain--I can see why the Fit exploded saleswise, but the Accord??

People are moving towards midsize cars from their SUVs. Peopl don't typically go from Explorers to Fits; they go from Explorers to Accords.

the economy's down. the people rushing out to buy cars are the ones driving SUVs and trucks that don't need them. lots of other people out there are sticking with what they've got. the funny thing is that people are willing to lose there arse on their trade ins, and aren't even doing the math. the thousands that people are losing on their SUVs when they trade would easily cover a lot of the fuel costs. i thought about trading mine or selling it, but looking at what they're going for it's just better to hang on to it, all things considered.

That's not all true.

Last year, the Silverado had the best resale value in it's class and among the best for all vehicles in it's price range.

Now, it probably wouldn't even be accepted as a trade in some areas....so if I didn't need a truck, selling the Silverado for a Honda Fit would result in me losing my ass.

I'm stuck with the gas guzzler, as are thousands of SUV and pickup drivers..

Accord up 50%
Fit up 100%
Civic up 23%

Oddysey and CRV down 8.6 and 9.9 respectively.

Without doubt a very good showing for Honda. They may in fact have trouble meeting demand, as both the Civic and Accord are set to sell over 400k units and the fit sales could probably reach 20k a month if Honda was producing enough. The TSX was also up 27% and I think the TL might also get a boost when the new one comes out.

Hyundai/Kia vdub and subaru have also done well.

the thing for the Accord, it's more bigger, longer and wider then before, a twisting irony (it's doubtul then Honda sent a small little batch to fleets but who knows?), so I have the felling then they might decide then the next-gen Accord will be more "land-yatch" then before.

I road tested an Accord over the weekend. I am actually thinking of getting one. With the V6, just think of it as a Japanese Impala.

I just can't get past the Accord's styling. It's just not pretty at any angle to my eyes. I sat next to and behind a new coupe yesterday in traffic and that's the most bloated looking thing. It's too big to have that styling. But to each his own I guess. I got behind a new Malibu LTZ today on the interstate and I really liked the crisp lines of the rear. Not bias, just looked artful.

I taught of a Japanese Cutlass or LTD instead.
