Re: June 2008 Sales: FoMoCo - Down 28% Overall - Down 19% DSR

On a random note, I will say that I saw my first MKS on the road about 3 days ago. I think it is, without a doubt, the most spectacularly designed vehicle Ford Motor has ever built.

I mean that!

People will have to come back in the market. There is a lot of confusion out there right now, large number of customers are still not giving up on the gas guzzlers so they are just sitting and waiting to see what will happen with the gas prices. Just as those crazy "employee pricing" numbers, from a couple of years ago, were not sustainable the current sales numbers are also not. The economy is not bad enough to erase ~20% of the car market.

The model you have got is ..... wait of it ... AWD .. TA DAH!!!- 16/22 - also top-of-its-segment mileage.

And per price - price out a well optioned Highlander, Pilot, Outlook, or Acadia and come back.

As of June the Flex almost outsold the Outlook with 1,300 sales (Outlook had 1,500)

To be perfectly fair, June isn't a good indicator of Lambda body sales because of the strike at Delta Township that kept the plant offline for most of the month.

While I realize that sales are affected regionally, and supplies of vehicles are regional.............. here in AZ, we are really screwed if we want to buy a Focus, Fusion, or Escape. The selection, and supply is awful.

My local Ford dealership has ZERO Foci, ZERO Fusion, and 2 Escapes. He can't get another dealer to trade him any............. as nobody has much. Hell, he doesn't even have any Rangers !!!! He usually has 10+ Foci, about the same in Fusion and Escapes.

They sold 3 SuperDuty's last month (very small dealership).

On a side note............ I bought a new Superduty !!!!

They could have bought sales with ZERO percent for 72 months............ but didn't.

Lets remember that last year ford had Jag and RR, someone do the math to see what it would be with out them because they would be about 3,00+ sales.

It's scary right now with Ford SUVs down 55%. ouch!!! The new Fusion/Milan with new powertrains and hybrids will be out this fall. Although the current Fusion/Milan are awesome, those updated models can't come soon enough. I hope they are real sexy and sporty and peal away more sales from camcord/altoid.

I'm assuming MKZ will get some refreshing at that time as well. I would even consider an I-4 for the MKZ.

Well geez, I'd like to say the sales comparision will be real easy for next year with these results but you never can tell.

My guess that the cut in advertising budgets by Ford and Chrysler (13% each) really backfired.

Jag and RR sold ~5600 units last June. If we take those out then Ford's sales decline would be at ~24-25%

^ I was thinking the same thing when I was on my way to home, we forget that Ford compared last year sales including Jag and LR and this month but without them so this means that Fords true loss was less of what they reported

What if it was a turbo ecoboost I-4? I mean were not talking about the flagship here... The MKZ is the smallest Lincoln. Lincoln is entry level luxury and an I-4 ecoboost would give it a way to distinguish it from the competition with power, efficiency and low emissions at an afFORDable price.

It would distinguish them from the herd and give them a niche. Plus the technology is already there.

I wonder..... yes, I'm being lazy.

F-Series 38,789..... 65,156.... -40.5.... /// ......274,713 ...... 355,438...... -22.7

Anyway, it's still ahead of the Accord and Civic YTD ie still the best selling product in the USA

Then Ford should make a small liter(2.5,2.6) V6 just like BMW and Infiniti have.
