with regard to the sts ,,like I have always said ..just continue the product and upgrade, don't constantly be changing you build brand and model bases by changing less than more...sure merge the sts with dts but replace the dts with and ultra luxo sedan.....let them know you are hear to stay and ARE not going anywhere

Toyota saw its truck sales fall by nearly 40%. I would love to see how badly the Tundra is selling especially considering its inferior fuel economy to both the F150 and the GM twins.
wait a minute to be fair Ford reported the sales undajusted as GM did report them adjusted

I have noticed more of them on the road recently. Getting a CTS bump maybe?

As for the decline in the Acadia vs the Trailblazer, I'm willing to bet its the cash on the Trailblazer's hood that had it not declining by as much.

Ouch on those Lucerne, DTS, and Lacrosse numbers.

You know, I've driven an Aveo. I guess many don't agree, but I really don't think it's a bad little car. Nice interior. Reasonably zippy. It's certainly no worse than a Yaris.

Since the start of the '08 model year, I've seen a lot of STS's on the road.

Re: GM Reports June Sales; 70K Over Toyota; Truck Sales Down 17%; Mkt Share +2 Points

I have a random question that maybe someone will tackle that has little to do with this post, I just happened to see the adjusted ford sales which aren't as bad as I thought.

Do you think when GM does well or Ford does well it will invariably be good for the US market due to the simple fact that people's perceptions may change on American cars in general? Or do you think most people segregate GM and Ford to the point where Americanism no longer matters and one may love Ford and still believe GM builds crap and vice versa?

I guess what I'm asking is, for all intents and purposes, do you believe than when Ford steals sales for foreign competitors that it could benefit GM down the line, as well?

Does this make sense?

My daughter recently leased a Cobalt, and was considering the Aveo, but the lease terms for the Aveo were horrible. Payment-wise, Cobalt was much easier on her budget even though it's MSRP was thousands less.

^ as long at it makes the companies turn a profit I believe it will benefit both in the long run because if one of them falls it will take the other one down too

Gas is $4.10/gallon, and Chevrolet can't sell a subcompact. GM deserves that failure, it's a miserable car. Consumers aren't stupid.
Our local dealer is selling out of Aveos. I don't think it is a matter of being able to sell them, it is a matter of being able to get enough to sell.

Someone needs to find inventory numbers. That might explain some of the bizarre sales numbers. Last month, Prius sales were way down because Toyota ran out of them.

Glad to see those numbers on the Aura and VUE. And some nice retail numbers at Pontiac too.

I hope GM's cash flow improves, but you have to love that 2% increase in market share.

What is causing the supply problem with the Lambda's?? They are down about 40% between the 3 yet are claiming that is because of a supply problem?? Even adjusted for selling days they are still down about 30%. Can't figure out how supply could be so much worse than last year?? Are they spinning somehow in their own press release??

That's sort of what I figured. I was always under the impression that despite them being direct competitors of one another, what was good for one would be somewhat good for the other.

It would be like Ford stealing a Toyoto buyer and that buyer being turned onto American cars and then in another 2 years that same buyers then trades in their Hyundai for a GM and has both American cars in the driveway.

Maybe wishful thinking.

Plenty of Acadias for sale at the local GMC dealer here.

I would imagine that GM would have sold a lot more Lambdas if they had included them in their latest giveaway program.

Or perhaps a lot of buyers are just waiting for the DI'd '09's.
